Will this work for aquarium lighting? HID car headlight set up?
i am wondering if it would be possible to make my own lighting set up for an aquarium using the metal halide HID bulbs used from car headlights and a computer power supply along with some wiring to power them ?
And what color temperature would work best.
If this would work it would be for a reef tank.
I was thinking of using something like this…

along with….

to power it. I could make my own hood and add a computer cooling fan to it and i think it could work.

I wouldn’t do it if you have a saltwater tank your corals will get sunburned and probably die. I would just buy a hood with a light at your local petshop.
Holy cow! How big is your tank? I think that’s overkill. Don’t fry your self or your fish with your homemade wiring.
