Why my aquarium plants are not pearling lots ofCO2 lots of light?
Can anyone help! 55 gallon tank, 460 watts proper kelvin. co2 reactor with powerhead. plantabs fertilizer and others. plants still don’t produce O2 bubbles. I mean when o2 comes out of plants and rises to the surface.

I am just getting into planted tanks and mine are low tech at this point. I did send this question to another TC on here though that should be able to give you some help on this.
Edit: No problem Soup, I knew you’d be able to help with this one, you have helped me with my plant questions in the past and you know your stuff.

What kinds of plants do you have? To produce a visible amount of oxygen (pearling), they must photosynthesize (and grow) very quickly. Also, they must have a relatively large surface area, so most rosette plants (all stems come from a single origin: the crown; and each stem has only a single leaf) don’t pearl as well as stem plants (Rotala, Ludwigia, Glosso, HC, Anacharis, Cabomba, etc.). Water Sprite, Glosso, and the others I listed are perfect candidates for pearling, while things like Java Moss, Java Fern, Anubias, Crypts, Swords, Lilies, etc. will rarely pearl.
LOL… thanks for the heads up, MFK.
