When I wa feeding my other fish i noticed that my sucker fish was upside down and at the bottom of the tank … So I immediately thought it was dead … so i tapped on the side of the tank trying to get it to jump put nothing happened … then a got my net and tried to scoop it out and it jumped up and swam to the other side of the tank and laid upside down like it had been before … is that normal?

Do a search on google. I found a lot of people have the same issue.
No its not, hes not long for that tank I fear. Whats your PH,Ammonia,Nitrite and Nitrate readings ???
If you don’t know that’s most likely the problem. Also are you feeding him algae tablets ??? He can’t survive on just flake food that drops to the bottom and algae in the tank alone. He needs algae disks and some cucumber and lettuce and stuff like that from time to time. Buy a veggie holder and stick it in the tank at night. Or drop a algae tab or two in the tank when the lights go out at night.
Its not a good thing what hes doing now though, hes probably gonna die soon so maybe take that advice on the next one. Good Luck
Maybe because its a bottom dweller…?
Plecostomus are bottom fish. Yours was probably asleep; yes they sleep too. Usually, they do this in a log or other structure. You might try to get a log or open ended structure for your plecostomus; it makes them happier.
Speaking of which, did you know that plecostomus’ can do more than just hang on the side or the bottom of a tank. I can get my parents’ plecostomus to respond to the shaking of the container of his favorite treat food; some type of brine shrimp thing. And, I had a friends that I could hand feed brine shrimp flakes. That one, I could get to respond to the sound of my voice; of course reinforced with brine shrimp flakes.
