Why is my foam filter in my ten gallon aquarium turning Pink?
I have a ten gallon aquarium. I recently changed the rocks and decorations. It has a filter that hangs off the back. The filter has a charcoal part and a foam part. I have had it for two years. Since I re-did it the foam part turns pink. I have cleaned the aquarium and changed the filters twice but the foam one keeps turning pink. Why?
Thank u Mark. I have changed the filter and cleaned the tank twice in the last couple of weeks. The filter isn’t tinted with pink-it is solid almost hot pink. The food that I feed them is no different than what i have been feeding them for over two years. Would the nitrates or amonia do this? I do put the drops in the water that I put in the tank.

It could be a number of things. One reason is that it could be the food that you feed your fish that gets sucked up into the filter. Or it could be some sort of algae that is growing in your filter. Or it could have been your decorations. some particles off the decorations may have came off and was sucked into the filter. That is all i can think of right now sorry. But i can’t think of anything that is bad about it. as long as your fish are doing fine and your filter continues to work it should be nothing. The filter is probably just doing its job in cleaning the tank. Just remember to clean the tank and the filter regularly. And make sure that you aren’t putting any unwanted chemicals in it.
oh yah one last thing that i just though of. it could have been some chemical that u put in the tank that you put in for your fish. just a though.
What color are your rocks? Maybe it’s the dye from them if they’re red or pink. Also a decorations color maybe coming off. We had a tank that would always be blue & yes we did rinse the rocks off. They only other thing I could think of is your town water. If you’re using it maybe change to distilled water. Hope you find out what the problem is—-best of luck to you
