Why does my red platy fish have a light red/whitish rash on its upper left side?

I got my red platy (male) about 3 weeks ago. Its in an aquarium along with another sunset platy (also male) and a black molly (also male). Before, both platies used to chase each other, in a manner that looked like they were fighting, but now it has stopped, or doesn’t happen that much often anymore. Often they stay together and sit under the tree which i have placed in a corner in the aquarium.

Now the problem is that today, I saw what looked like a rash on the left side of my red platy. It looked as if a bit of his skin had come of. The colour was very light, like pink or perhaps white. Could it be that something (perhaps the other platy) atatcked him? By the way, the black molly isn’t violent, he doesn’t attack the other fish. Or could this be an infection? How can I cure it or prevent this from happening?
Thank you very much.

    The water might be contaminated.

    maybe it has rabies!!!!!

you should ask a vet they r good with animals!

sorry but the problem might be a fatal fish disease called “ick.”the best thing to do is go to a vet.

If it is a white ‘cottony’ looking substance it is probably what is commonly called “Ick” it will spread to the rest of the fish if you do not take care of it. 50% water change and add 2 table spoons of salt per 5 gallons. That is the simple treatment.

A better and more thorough treatment is to remove the infected fish into a sort of hospital tank, change 50% water change in the tank and salt treatment. In the hospital tank treat with store bought medication for Ick until it has cleared up.

Slightly reducing the temperature also helps to keep it from spreading fast, ick is fatal.

Also when you buy new fish study them carefully for any disease before you put them into the tank, it is very common for over crowded store bought fish to have this disease among others.
