Why does my common goldfish swim around his tank like he’s going crazy?

It’s like he wants out or something and I know for a fact that he is not diseased or sick at all. I give him a specialized nutrition that you can’t buy at the store which makes him a super-fish so he’s extremely healthy but he still swims around the tank back and fourth back and forth really fast. He will stay in one spot and like a bee trying to get out from behind glass, he will move right left right left fast in the corners and sides of the tank. I know that fish don’t like sudden change of light and that they get spooked easily but he will do this for hours ignoring me if I’m talking to him even. What’s his deal? I have him in a 12 gallon acrylic tank and there is a kind of large bottom feeder in there with him. The bottom feeder fish has grown in size and always tries to suck on him and he doesn’t like it one bit. Do you think this could be the cause? Is the bottom feeder fish driving him crazy and maybe stressing him out too much? I’m going to get rid of the bottom feeder soon anyway. Thanks for anyone’s feedback.

I honestly cannot tell if this is a joke or real, but this better be a joke. This fish is stressed like a bat out of hell because:

    a. It’s in a tank too small for it so its probably poisoned by its own ammonia output
    b. It’s got a Pleco/some bottom dweller in there with him which is also adding to the waste
    c. The Pleco/whatever (CAE, perhaps?) is removing its slime coat, drilling a hole in it, and trying to kill it.

the tank is far too small. your goldfish should be in at least a 75 gallon tank, and im guessing the bottom feeder is a pleco. that is a tropical fish and it really should be in a 120 gallon tank.

Like most mass produced fish in america this one probably came from a pond with thousands of other goldfish. Now take a fish from such a large body of water and plop him is a tank. Its like taking you and putting you in a closet to live. Not a very pleasant thought I bet.My very first breeding stocks came from large ponds and zipped all over. Their fry did not do this because the tank is all they have ever known. Put some plants in there an tone the lights down some. Give it time to get used to such a small tank. You may want to buy a 55 soon, goldfish can grow huge fast.
