Any reason why they do this….?
Yes, theres one goldfish, 2 fantales and two tiger ones. One just got one stuck and was swimming like mad around the tank but then spat it out!

    they’re fish…fish are dumb…

jk they’re probably cleaning/eating the algae off the stones.

What kind of fish are we talking about here?

I presume you mean a Goldfish, in which case as far as they’re concerned they’re always hungry (but they have a primitive digestive system and are prone to problems linking to overfeeding) and what you’re seeing is natural grazing/hunting behaviour. You need to be careful because Goldfish can get stones stuck, they’re best on either bare bottomed tanks or with very large river rocks.

either they’re getting food off of it or if you have males and females, some fish (like a lot of cichlids) build nests like that, they’ll move the gravel around to make a pit

They are either hungry or they are eating the algae off of the rocks. They’re goldfish, they’ll eat anything!

    Good Luck!

You should remove those stones, and get bigger ones, or get very fine sand, as your fish are going to swallow them! Goldfish eat anything that is in front of them. They are also “diggers”, which means that they sift through the bottom, be it sand or gravel, and search for food, even though they are already fed. This is completely normal.

They are looking for food at the bottom of the tank. It is nothing to be worried about. Goldfish and some Cichlids do this a lot.
