Why are there brown spots on my aquarium decorations?

Hi,
after the past two days, brown spots are appearing on my decorations. (my leafy fake plant, my two clean rocks, a small castle, a sea shell, a chest, and my gravel.)
if I swipe my finger on it, it comes off. It doesn’t look like alge because it’s brown, not green, and they are circles, not a certain area. My fish seems fine.
What should I do?

Algae comes in all different shapes and colors. You could try taking your decorations and soak them in 1 gallon of water, and 1 cup of bleach for a while. Then rinse very thoroughly! Any traces of bleach will kill your fish.
Thats definatly a form of algae, probably an algae bloom in your tank. An algae bloom is common in almost all tanks and will happen at least once. Take the plants and decorations out, wash them and then just continue on your regular cleaningé filter change cycle.
I don’t know what it is but I would increase the water changges and feed the fish a little less.
Good luck!
It’s algae, you can get green algae and brown algae. Your fish will probably snack on it, it won’t harm them. Put in a algae cure so it doesn’t get out of control, as once it does, it will be hard to get rid of and maintain. It won’t hurt your tank, just make it not look so pretty! Try putting in an algae cure, and turn the lights off for a few days as the algae thrives on light, put a blanket or something over the tank so it isn’t exposed to sunlight either. Your fish won’t mind the darkness for a few days.
There are all sorts of colours of algae. It’s algae, definitely. I have the same thing in my aquarium. It’s algae.
I don’t bother cleaning the decor. I figure it looks more natural with algae on it. I just clean the glass. As long as you clean the glass and your water is clear, the aquarium won’t look dirty.
