Why Are My Fish Misbehaving?

I just set up my first aquarium. It is a regular size 10 gallon tank. I’m not an expert on fish, so I just picked out some fish that I though looked nice. I saw that they had a bunch of male bettas sitting alone in little jars and it made me feel sad so I bought all 35 of them and put them in my new aquarium. Now the little guys won’t stop fighting! Why do you think they are doing this? They can’t be fighting over a female, because there aren’t any in there. What’s going on?

Male bettas are fiercely territorial and should not be kept in the same tank.
    They will kill each other.

They’re highly territorial, do not put them in the same tank, or they will attack each other. They keep them separate for a reason, it’s just the way they are.

Male Betta’s Are Very Territorial And Can AttEach otherther That’s Why They Seperate Them So For Now Give Them Back To The Pet Store And Seperate The Ones You Keep! That Was Nice Of You To Take Them All Though Lol :) Hope I Helped!

Well you are either a troll or really stupid. Never put male bettas together, they will attack and kill each other. And you can only keep 2 in a 10 gal tank, but you need a divider

Is this a serious question or a joke??? If it’s serious, I’m sorry but you should do a little research before you even think about buying any more fish…

OMG!!!! AHHH!!! THAT’S THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO!!!!! get EVERY single one of them out of there and if you haven’t already thrown out the little jars put them back in because MALE BETTAS WILL FIGHT TO THE DEATH IF PUT IN THE SAME TANK. i hope all 35 of them survive D:

Test each others strength, that is why they fight

You would not get 35 Betta’s in a 10 gallon tank

are you just joking or what every body knows that ******:(

As everyone has said…male Betta’s are territorial. They are kept in separate cups for a reason, they will kill each other for territory. And thirty five fish is really too much for a ten gallon tank. The more fish, the less territory, you need to separate them all before you lose some fish. But I can guarantee you in the time it takes to do this, you may lose a few.

They don’t like living with a troll.

Bettas are very very very aggressive with their own kind along with other fish species! They will fight until the death of all but one. Please get them into different containers, but dip the containers into the water and get water out of your tank. And seperate them asap! That is why they were seperated into small containers! You shouldn’t buy any fish until you asked the pet store about them! Because now all the fish will be hurt and you will have to heal them, and you spent a lot of money on fish that will be setting all alone in small jars in your house!
