White film over fish eyes?

I have a 10 gallon tank with one dwarf platy and a female guppy. I noticed the guppy’s eye turned very cloudy white… almost as if it had a cottony film over the eye. The tips of her fins were also whitish and then the platy caught a similar condition in a couple of days. I started treating for ich for the first 2 days, and spoke with someone who said it might be a bacterial infection and recommended melafix. I did a 20% water change, waited 24 hours, then started the melafix treatment. It has been going for 4 days and their fins have cleared up but their eyes are still cloudy (guppy’s right eye and now platy’s left eye). Could their infection be both fungal and bacterial?? How should I go about treating them?

Note: A few days before I noticed the white film, I introduced a male guppy and live plants into the tank (all from an aquarium auction). The male died of stress in 3 or so days (no visible signs of disease) and after I removed him is when I first noticed the white eye.

If there’s a PetSmart near you they have information booklets on fish diseases. I would think that would help.
