Where to buy cheap silica sand or pool filter sand for aquarium use in Singapore?
Currently, I have a black gravel but the they are not grains, they are PEBBLES which encourages trapped detritus. My tank is a marine themed freshwater aquarium.
I saw some websites arguing that white substrate stresses fish and thus, the fishes are colour washed. Is this true? My lighting is not so harsh. Thanks in advance

Small gravels is as good as Sand but you have pebbles, It is not good for your fish. Wastes will be trapped between the stones and thus causing higher ammonia levels which your bacteria in filter medium cannot decompose.
White coral sand is very good for fish or small gravel size 2 to 4mm is very good. Put it 1 inch in thickness not more than 2inch.
Syphom once in 2 weeks according to your fish (Size and Variety).
Yes Colour of your aquarium substrate do have a contribution in your fish color. White sand wont stress your fish, but white marble sand and a kind of white sand with shining will stress your fish, but not white coral sand.
