Where can I donate a Red Belly Pacu fish?
I bought a Red Belly Pacu at a local fish store. I’ve had her since she was the size of a half dollar, and placed her in a 16 gallon tank, not having any knowledge on the background on the types of fish these are! Now she’s about 7 inches long, and I feel horrible for keeping her in this 16 gallon tank. I’ve been trying to find her a home, and it’s getting really difficult! She’s a really friendly fish. At night, when I turn off the light in my room, she picks up the rocks and beads on the tank floor with her mouth, and bangs them against the glass tank. But whenever I turn on the light in her tank, she goes bizarre and starts acting crazy! She’s already broke two of my filters doing that! But she is totally docile. Anyone know a place in the Bay Area (preferrably Fremont/Union City/Hayward/Milpitas) where I can donate her too??

Try asking at Monster Fish Keepers

There are people there crazy enough to have tanks that can hold Pacu
Be warned they will also try and help you set up a tank to house your Pacu

Try a mom and pop type pet store. There’s one around the corner from my house and they have all kinds of exotic fish and reptiles. they let me trade in my koi that got too big for my tank for one of their young rabbits
I second Monster Fishkeepers, only there are you going to find private homes who may be willing to take this fish. Any store that knows their fish is going to say no, as are most public aquariums (they’ll get dozens of requests a week). But you may well need to extend the area in which you’re looking to rehome this fish, people able to care for this monster fish are going to be few and far between.
