whats the minimum tank sise for one small rainbow trout and what else would it take for it to thrive, i know a chiller is needed
are you sure that 100 gallons is minimum for just one becuase ive heard that you can keep one in a 30
well what about a brown trout or a brook trout whats the minimum size tank for them
well i feel totally stupid now

if it unfair unless you have like a 100 gallon tank because they belong in a lake so i would say get either a 100 gallon tank or a lake haha but good luck
a strong flow in a 3ft tank with would and clean water with pond gravle
rainbows can reach over 3 feet and stealheads(same species just anadromous) get up to 4 feet. so you will need a huge tank if you want to keep one.
50 gals may support a small ‘growing’ trout , but larger is required also very clean flowing water
I have never kept a trout, but when thinking of keeping a fish, you need to consider the possible adult size of the fish. They can grow to a max of around 36 inches, but even if you figure 18-24 for a captive fish, you are going to need a very large tank. I wouldn’t even say 100 gallons as a minimum, a minimum for keeping a fish of that size should be 180 gallons, and that is still small for a fish like this. I would not even attempt to try to keep a trout in a 30 gallon tank, you are just going to shorten the life of the fish and give it a miserable existence.
Edit: A Brook trout would be the same as a Rainbow, and a Brown trout would defiantly be out of the question, they get larger than the Rainbows and the Brook trouts.
Edit: Don’t feel stupid, it would be great to keep such a great looking fish, just not practical. You just need to rethink what you want to keep.

you would need a tank in the range of 200 gallons, and a 1000 dollar chiller. remember, these guys reach over 2 feet possibly. this isnt just a guppy were talking about here.
