What supplies do I need to care for GloFish?

Can you please provide a detailed list, inlcuding tank, food, siphon, droplets etc… that I will need to take care of GloFish (zebra fish). I plan on purchasing 5-6 of them.

Thank you. And are the possible to breed? If so, how?

no you cannot breed them and they are cared for like regular freshwater fish

  2. Calla77 says:

    - 20 gallon tank with hood and light
    - heater
    - filter
    - filter cartridges
    - tropical fish flakes
    - water conditioner (I like to use prime)
    - Aquarium Salt (optional)
    - gravel vacuum
    - substrate (I would use gravel)
    - live or fake plans and other decorations

Before adding the fish you should set up the tank and cycle it. The process take any where from 2-6 weeks. If you want them to breed raise the temp into the low 80s and offer some live foods into their diet.

    *10gallons or larger
*filter (normal waterfall hang on the back filter is fine) http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752295&lmdn=Fish+Filtration+%26amp%3B+Circulation
*heater and thermometer (not *needed* but a good idea to keep the temp stable) http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752191&lmdn=Fish
*substrate (either gravel or sand if you want live plants… pool sand or play sand works fine as ong as it’s not chemically treated)
    *decor
    * water conditioner; the plain, cheap water conditioner that just removes chlorine and chloramine is fine…
*gravel siphon; any simple one will work, but you can get the fancy kind if you don’t mind spending the money http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3716154&lmdn=Fish
    *net
*water test kits for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754034&lmdn=Product+Type
    *tropical flake food
*hood/light… if you want them to glow you’ll need a black light bulb

now, if you want an aquarium kit that includes the filter and everything, these will all work:

or they will have plain glass tanks and you can buy everything separately.

they can be bred, but they’ll eat the eggs unless you stop them.

Same as for zebra danios. At least a 15 gallon aquarium, siphon 25% water changes weekly, use chlorine removing drops in the water and the tank needs to be heated and filtered. They can breed in an aquarium but it is illegal to do it on purpose as they are a product of the science industry and because they are genetically modified.
