What is this white hair-like stuff growing in my aquarium??

I have had my 10 gallon aquarium for about a year and have never really had any problems with it. Brownish/green stuff started growing on my decorations and rocks and now there is white, stringy, hair-looking stuff growing. It is only on the bottom of the tank but it is growing very fast. I noticed it yesterday and today there is alot more. It looks like slimy spiderweb pieces. Now it is all over the rocks and is starting to get on the decoration a little bit. I have searched the internet but cannot really find anything. Does anyone know what this is and how I can get rid of it?? Also is it harmful to the fish?

the brownish green stuff is algae. the white stuff is probably white hair algae. buy a black molly and an otocinclus catfish. otos take care of algae, and black mollies are the only thing that are known to eat hair algae. take out all of your plants and decorations and stir up the gravel a lot, most of it should come off.
This stuff is algae, and this can easily be solved. You can either get a snail or one of those fish that eat algae, like an albino corydoras. However, snails are more resilient and can survive on fish food as well, while algae eaters usually need special sinking pellets to eat if they don’t have algae.
Just that either green or black hair algae. the best way to get rid of it are snails and to not feed it so much light and fish food, you are leaving the light on to long 10 hours is plenty and over feeding your fish. only what they can eat in 5 minutes.

this link can help further if you want to get more into it. it is not harmful to the fish.
take the decor out and scrub it to slow it down.
