What filter should I get for my aquarium?

Question by Taylor: What filter should I get for my aquarium?
It’s a 50 gallon with freshwater tropical and live plants. I was thinking the Aqua Clear 200/50.

Any other suggestions?

Below $ 60 is preferable.

You should always double your amount of filtering. You’d need 100 gal. filters, preferably in smaller sizes that you can set up.

I, personally, would go with 2 aqua tech 30-60 because I find that the brand works the best for me.

Rena Filstar canistar. Believe me, I went through five different filters including Aqua Clear and this by far was the best. It sits under the aquarium, so hopefully you have a cabinet under the tank or a place to hide it. This is the best if you want a good filter that last, with little maintenance. With Aqua Clear you need to constantly buy prepackaged carbon bags $ $ $ $ overtime. With Rena it’s just a container that’s easy to clean. Plus you can make your on carbon bags. All you need is to buy carbon and material like pantyhose to put the carbon in. I used netted bags that closed with a string. I purchased the bags at PetSmart for about two bucks. Good luck:)!
