What and how to clean a 20 gallon fish tank?

I have a 20 gallon freshwater fish tank. My questions are: how often and how much of water to change? Do i add water every week? What else do i have to clean other than the algae?

Thank You!

    Never use bleach!
Always remove 20% every 2 weeks
    Never over stock

    Never scrub the filter
Never change the gravel or remove more then 25% at one time.

It sounds like your a beginner and I hope you cycled the tank before putting in the fish because that could be deadly for your fish

Remember to test the water for pH, Ammonia, nitrite or Nitrate levels

Algae is a plant. all tanks have Some growing on the rocks

to keep this in check you can limit the things that Algae needs for survival, feed the fish less
limit the light exposuer some fish will eat some algae

I have several live plants these will compete for the same nutrients that the algae needs.
I scrape the glass of the tank when I notice algae on it

I do water changes every 2 weeks, I have a 29 gallon with about 27 Gallons of water.the rest of the space displaced with rocks. I change 4 gallons Evey time with pre made and conditioned water.
    Filter maintenance every 4 weeks
    I feed the fish once a day…
