We’ve got a 30 litre tank with 5 goldfish in it, and one of them has fin rot. I went to the fish store and they sold me some “multi-purpose medication for freshwater aquarium fish” (because they only had massive bottles of Melafix which we couldn’t afford) which they said would do the same job. We’ve taken the carbon from filtration, given them a 50% water change, and put the recommended dosage of medicine in the tank, but the medicine is bright blue and now all the water in the tank is blue. It hasn’t seem to have faded in half an hour. Is this normal?? The fish seem ok and we’ve followed directions carefully but are still concerned… sorry for such an amateur question but we’re worried about our fish. Ta.

i never heard of that before , who is manufacturer behind the product. give another hour or read the instruction if they dont say anything about water turing color do a water change.

I have a large bottle of whole body fish oil and am supposed to take a teaspoon a day. I stopped for about 4 months and have just took a mouthful (about 3 teaspoons)
After taking the oil I was looking at the bottle and noticed it says to keep refrigerated. It hasn’t been. Does this matter? It tasted the same as usual. But I feel really sick now!

Imagine i dug a hole along the path you take home from work every day knowing that you would come upon it, fall in, and hurt yourself. Let’s say this is exactly what happens the next day, you fall in and break your leg… but i’m there to see it happen and i rush over to your aid, get you safely out of the hole, splint your leg and take you to the hospital. Don’t you think it would be wrong for me to expect praise for my heroic deeds of saving you in this case?
Now consider Christianity. This is basically what the Christian God does on a much grander scale… He set a trap for humanity (the tree, and the snake) and when humans fell victim to his plan, as he knew they would (he is omniscient after all, no?) he punishes them for eternity. But wait! he offers salvation in the form of Jesus Christ…. We should be thankful that he put us in this mess just so he could fish us out right… and the whole reason he did all of that is so that we would thank him and praise him. It sounds pretty sick if you ask me.
So, should the guy who digs you a hole just so he can save you and get credit be praised and thanked for his heroic deeds? If you say no, then why praise a God that supposedly did the exact same thing?

Question by baby g: How often do you change the whole filter system in your fish tank?
I change the filter every two weeks but the filter system itself looks really dirty because of all the crusty residue from the aquarium water building up on the sides. Do you suppose to change the whole filter system every year?

I have a filter that has 3 different baggies with different things in them to help clean the water.
i replace all of them every time i clean the fish tank ( every 3 months)
if you dont have a very good filter, clean it every month

i bought a red belly pacu at a local pet store when i got him he wasn’t in enough water and he was on his side about 24hrs the fish died he had an slimy film over his whole body before he died now the rest of my pacus have the same thing and their tails twitch i have three in an 150 gallon tank
