Exotic Environments Incan Vase Aquarium Ornament, Small

What kinds of fish can you keep in a small vase not an aquarium?

I’m looking for something besides a betta a lot of people have them. I just want something that can be kept in a bowl/vase so that i don’t have to use an aquarium.

How to care for a betta in a vase?

I got a betta in a vase from my coworkers wishing me a good pregnancy.

What size tank will he need? I don’t believe in keeping fish in bowls so how should I set up the tank?

I did hear that bettas don’t like moving water so should I not get an air pump?

Any help you give me will be appreciated by me and my new pet.

can i cycle a vase with a betta fish in it? or what would be the best way to go about it?

the vase holds about 1 gallon of water..
i’m thinking water changes would be stressful on the betta because since it’s such a small amount of water, concentrations of anything (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, etc) would change significantly at the slightest change of water. so how should i cycle the vase? do i make any adjustments to the norm of cycling a tank? like should i increase/decrease the %age of weekly water changes or increase how often i do water changes or both??

my friends got me a betta in a vase for my birthday and i’m away at college, but i have a fish tank at home. i’ve had some fish care experience and i’m worried about the whole fish in vase/bowl controversy. but what if you place gravel in the vase from an already established fish tank???

please state the reliability of your answer ie. you’re a veterinarian, you study fish, you’ve cared for whatever fish for however many years, etc.

A Betta in a vase. Cruelty to animals?

I have my Betta in a vase (it looks like a giant rounded bowl) that I’d say probably holds a little over a gallon, but … at the least … one full gallon (probably a little more, though). I take good care of him, and he is always swimming around and seems to be happy (I mean, I can’t read his mind and he can’t speak to me, but his activity seems to express contentment), however, I have been reading online that this fish should be kept in a ten gallon aquarium with heating in filtration. I do not have a heater or a filter. When I had my last Betta, a few years ago, I had him in a VERY small container (I had no idea how to properly care for a Betta, and I am extremely sad about the circumstances, looking back) and he lived about two years (until my grandmother killed him while I was on vacation (long story).

Anyway, my mother would probably flip out if I bought a tank setup for my room. I just wonder if I should give my Betta away to someone who could have a tank for it. I mean, his water is extremely clean and he is active, but I don’t want to feel like I am killing something.

His bowl has one small plastic plant, some rocks, and some marbles.

Is this habitat going to kill my Betta/be cruel?
