My Aunt Wants To Keep Fish In A Vase, And I’m Not Sure What To Tell Her. Details Inside, Needs Expert Opinion?

I’m a fish hobbyist. I have only kept a beta, snails, and goldfish. I know plenty about those subjects, but my aunt is kind enough to think that I’m now a fish guru. I’d like to help her out, but she’s got a tricky situation. Here’s the email she sent me:
Hi,
I measured the capacity of my fish-bowl vase. It can hold 10 quarts, or 2.5 gallons. It is long and skinny. It is smaller than a dinner plate at its widest point, but it’s long. It comes up almost to my hip.
So I would like your expertise in planning what I need to buy to create a lovely fishy home for someone.
So far I know that I need:
a fish
fish food
some plant material.
a fish scoop
What else will I need? Is there anything I can do so that it needs cleaning less often?

End of email.
So, 2.5 gallons is tiny. I read a quote that said that’s not a tank, that’s a vase. (Well, in this case it is a vase…) ANYWAY not much can live in there. There’s a huge debate on whether a beta can do it, but I’d like to side-step that. Given our area, she’d have to heat it, and I can’t imagine that happening with the kind of vase she’s describing. So no beta.
She really didn’t like the idea of having a few guppies or tetra. She wants one big, colorful fish. (I know, I know, beta.) Can you guys think of anything? Or are tiny fish the only option? (By the way, I’m fully aware of the inch-per-gallon rule, and also that is not a hard and fast rule but sketchy guideline.)
What about a type of frog, or snails or something? Something not-fish. Shrimp would work, but that might gross her out.
I know these are tight conditions, and some fish experts are going to say it can’t be done. I’m fine with that answer! Please, hit me with it. I want to help my aunt keep a healthy, thriving tank, not a decoration that’s barely making it. But before you ban the idea of anything ever working, please consider all the options.
Thanks in advance!

Can I Use Small Aquarium Snails In My Bamboo Vase To Eat Algae?

I have a medium-sized vase with about 10 pieces of lucky bamboo in water, with gravel about halfway up. The roots extend all the way through the gravel to the bottom of the vase. The sides of the vase are now covered in algae, even though I change the water regularly. I don’t think it’s a huge problem, but I’m wondering if I buy a handful of small freshwater snails at the local pet-store, if they’ll be able to survive in that kind of space, and whether they will eat the algae. Should I buy snails or small shrimp? Can I change the water and put in fresh cold water without killing them?

Betta In A Vase Is This Plant Safe?

I asked this question previouslly and I gotta go back in and select the best answer so forgive my tardiness. I have a Betta in a Vase. A square vase. It is just shy of 3 gallons, I have a mini aquarium heater for up to 3 gallon tanks, a small filter and 2 tiny air stones with a pinched line so only a few bubbles get out for the betta’s comfort. I have small decorative rocks filled with brown gravel. 3 plant bulbs waiting to sprout and a Blue L.E.D. Light submerged for a night light. In the tank is a single Beta fish, 3 fancy guppies and a pleco algea eater (very very small right now) I plan to remove once he gets much bigger and replace with another tiny one. and 5 ghost shrimp. the water is 80 degrees constantly. Now that all being said here is my question. The plant i have growing outta the top of the vase is a Devils IVY. its only been 2 days since I put the new betta in and the new fish were added today. The betta though seems non active. it will swim though not much, the other betta i had to replace (I’ll explan why) was very active until it died. It mostly sorta hovers above the bottoms, or goes and lays down in the Plants roots, it doenst seem to be diseased, or sick at all, i add a little bit of aquarium salt every day, and the water is extremely clear.. I wasnt able to find anything online stating whether or not Devils Ivy is toxic to fish. That being said this set up doesnt involve the Betta eating any roots, I supply it with tropical flakes and blood worms. And soon after i buy a single female buppy live fry whenever she produces. There is also plenty of breathing room at the surface. Now as to the the first betta fish. The first heater i had malfunctioned. it was supposed to used for 3-15 gallon tanks with an automatic shut off. Well it didnt shut off, I basically came home to Fish soup and hard to see through water if. you get the idea.
Is this plant harmful to fish (devils Ivy) ??? I dont want aswers that include, well it is toxic to people dogs cats, etc etc. because queens anns lace is a plant (the original carrot) has toxic leaves and can be used for abortions however the root is perfectly safe to eat ( carrot). So if anyone knows whether I can or should contine to use this plant in this set up please let me know. Thank you in advance

What can I put in a tall cylinder shaped vase?

It’s an arrangement of three like vases, all different heights. The shortest has sand with tall flower twigs, making it the tallest.

The medium sized vase has beige aquarium gravel and a sage candle with space left open at the top.

What can I add to the third vase? Ideas?

My molly fish is biting all my baby fish and the other fish I already have in a tank. Should I take that one molly that is biting all the fish, out until the fish are grown a little? But I was wondering if it was alright to put him in a vase with no heater? Would that be good? Please Answer!

Hide aquarium heater in glass vase?

I have a baby turtle in my aquarium with a tube-like heater. Could I hide aquarium heater in glass vase? The heater would fit , then I’d place suction cups on the inside.

The heater is able to be fully submerge-able , even near the bottom, could lay it on the side with the end near a wall so he couldn’t get in. Is it full proof? Would the heat be able to heat the tank? He keeps trying to sit on top on the heater..where the knob is, not the actual hot part? Is he ok?
Do you think he could scratch the wiring with his claws?
I wouldn’t think it to be submersible either but the directions say that it is, etc. :\
