What Are Some Interesting/beautiful Fish Or Amphibians That Can Coexist With Koi And Baby Red Ear Sliders?

I have a nice sized pond in my back yard, probably at least 10′ long, 5-6′ wide and 4′ deep with a small rock waterfall on the top, and aquatic plants. There is almost constant fresh running water and a good filter. There are a couple of crawdads too, but I’ll be removing them soon or putting them in a separate section, just in case the turtles get any ideas. There are 2 red ear slider babies and 7 koi. Most are about 8 inches long and the big one is at least twice as long as them. They have plenty of room to move around and seem happy (dive out of the water a lot, swim up to people, do barrel rolls, etc.)
I’m thinking of getting big frogs, ones that make noises at night, like bullfrogs maybe. I’ve heard that there are freshwater pipefish but I don’t know if they can live in completely fresh water or need some degree of salt… and newts are another possibility! Someone I know just got a paddle tail newt, but it’s in an aquarium alone, not a pond. Any nice looking fish are welcome if they won’t hurt each other. These are just my ideas of interesting additions… I have no idea if they can go together safely.
Anyway, sorry for the length… thanks for any suggestions. : )

Q&A: RED EARED SLIDERS QUESTION…?

Question by My # 1 is due 04/25/10: RED EARED SLIDERS QUESTION…?

I HAVE A FILTER AND ALL AND MY TANK IS CLEAN AND WATER IS CLEAR… YOU CAN JUST SEE THE POO LAYING ON THE AQUARIUM ROCKS AND IT LOOKS NASTY… WANT SOME TYPE OF FISH THAT WILL “CLEAN” THAT UP… LOL…

will red ear sliders eat sucker fish?

i have 3, one year old red ear sliders, they’re happy, they’re healthy.. but my question is.. i was reading something online about sucker fish and how they can help keep the tank clean and more healthy for the turtles.. now i wouldnt mind having them in the tank, but my res turtles are pretty vicious and will eat just about anything, so im afraid that the second i put the sucker fish in it will b eaten.. so my question is, will my turtles eat the sucker fish. im sure they’ll want a taste.. but will the sucker fish be eaten? especially because i know they dont move much, and make it very easy for the turtles to nibble on. Also, besides sucker fish.. what other fish besides guppies and goldfish would make good roommates for the turtles(without getting eaten, of course)? [Please be as detailed as possible with your answers, Thanks!]

Can i feed “rosy red minnows” to 2 red ear sliders? What are the best things to feed them?

I really want a couple red ear sliders for my tank. I was wondering what they ate.

How to care for wild baby yellow bellied sliders?

How to care for wild baby yellow bellied sliders(turtles)?
My dad and I found two baby yellow bellied sliders(at least we think that’s what they are) in the wild. We caught them and brought them home. We bought a 10 gallon tank, and a lamp, and I put some rocks in there for a place to bask. I put in a small feeder fish, only to find that it was most likely to big for them to eat. I put in a few little pellets that my larger turtle eats, but they haven’t eaten any. They’ve stopped trying to dig their way out(which I believe is a sign of stress) but they still wont eat. It’s been a day, and after two I have to let them go. I’m not sure what to feed them since they are so small(each one being about and inch to an 2 inches in width). Also, I filled the tank with spring water, but I was wondering of regular old tap water would be fine (note: that’s what I use for my larger pet store turtle). Any help is great.

Thanks :)

Can red ear sliders live with sucker fish?

I wanted to do this so that my aquarium filter doesn’t have so much waste to clean. Any one have any past experiences or ideas?

Hi, I have 2 Red Ear Sliders about 3 years old and 3 inches each approx. I have bought a whole setup?

setup consists for 40 gallon wide tank, 200 watt heater, emperor 400 filter, and many other accessories.

unfortunately, due to my strict parents and their heavy pressure and criticism, I most likely have to let go of the 40 gallon tank (because its too big, how am i going to change the water, etc)
even though i know 40 gallons is still not enough for 2 RES’s the size I have. In reality w/no limits, I should be having 80 gallons, for example.

So because i have to return the 40 gallon, I need to get another one still, my best option right now is to get a 29 gallon, even though i dont like that one because the botttom is not wide at all, it is much more of a fish tank. the 40 gallon i got right now is wide and it is perfect for plenty of room for the 2 turtles.

question is, is the emperor 400 too much for a 29 gallon? (it works up to 80 gallons) i origionally bought the emperor 280 (it works up to 50 gals). is more the better? meaning, 2x the easier the tank? 2x cleaner? thank you!!!

Can red eared sliders live with wild paited turtles?

Ive had two red eared sliders (one for a year and one for three) Both almost adult size and my sister brought me a painted turtle that was crossing the road somewhere in Romeo Mi.

(Im pretty sure its a boy due to the nails)
Just a baby, but he seemed okay when I added him to my aquarium.
He seems healthy and outgoing with the other turtles.

Is this okay?
My two turtles are rather friendly.
