Quickcare For Ick Dosage For Gouarmi, Redtailed Shark And Yoyo Loach? Please Help!?

I have 2 gourami, 1 redtailed shark (baby) and 1 yoyo loach (baby). A few days ago I noticed one of my gourami had 2 dots of ick on its tail and the 2nd gourami had 1 dot of ick, shark and yoyoloach have none yet. I used quickcure, putting 8 drops in a 10 gallon tank (didnt want to OD the fish) 2 days in a row now (one of the gourami is acting sick after 2days of meds). I read that the RTS and yoyo loach are scaleless, therefore sensitive to meds like quickcure. I also added the carbon back in today (2nd day of treatment) because one of my gourami is acting sick. What dosage would you sugguest for a 10 gallon tank with a very mild case of ICK, being that I have med-sensitive fish in it? Continue with 8 drops/daily for a week after all signs of ick is gone? How many drops daily and how many days to continue that dosage after all signs of ick are gone? and should I leave my carbon in the filter so the sensitive fish do not OD? Also, should I be doing water changes in addition to the meds, or should I wait until the treatment is over and do a % water change, if so how much of the water? thank you so much!!

Q&A: Can you help identifying which shark is it?

Question by Atit: Can you help identifying which shark is it?
I’ve 3 freshwater sharks. One is bala shark. But the other two, one is completely white and other has black stripes. The pet store had told me it was a “tiger shark” and a “white shark” but I could not find any info regarding that in the web. Is it really freshwater “tiger shark” (the long horizontal black stripe one)? If yes, why is there no info regarding those in the net?

Have you ever heard of a whale shark also known as a “basking whale”?

Question by rice392000: Have you ever heard of a whale shark also known as a “basking whale”?
Idiot is starting to become my “buzz” word because of late i have run into so many. Today no pun intended I ran into an idiot commentator on the “TODAY Show” and what did he say when they were featuring the “GEORGIA AQUARIUM” in Atlanta GA, he stated that not many people had even heard of a whale shark until some were captured a couple of years ago…this idiot needs to check his facts where did he get that gem? I have heard of whale sharks and seen them from the time the movie that that idiot probably never heard of either called “RING OF BRIGHT WATER” was shown in the movie theaters in 1973 the movie was made in 1969 some of the same actors from “Born Free” are in it. And of course so are Basking or whale sharks!!! So to the person that made the idiotic comment about the “whale shark” please get back to me…because when the “Today Show” hired you they were looking for quantity not a Quality thought pattern. What you said is a deep insult to many “baby boomers” !!! We should spank u!

He might have gotten it confused with the megamouth shark, the other type of basking shark that was discovered in 76 and is still pretty much unknown among the general public? Still, I hear you. Almost any kind of documentary or news commentary or what not usually makes me mad real fast because they say something so untrue or stupid it’s frightening. I’ve blogged about this even:

Im trying to look for this certain shark for a fish tank, can anone help?

Question by Chris M: Im trying to look for this certain shark for a fish tank, can anone help?
Hi, i used to have a fish tank where i bought 2 “dolphin hammerhead sharks” from a shop, not the usual fish shop but like a kind of small one. and the sharks where about 4″ – 6″ and they looked like mini great white sharks, not stupid red tail sharks or silver sharks, they looked like a shark :) i had to get rid of my tank and so i want to get another tank but only with these sharks. im desperate as they looked so cool, they ate frozen fish and all the other small fish in my tank :( but i want these ones because they look like sharks rather than those red tail and silver sharks, which look nothing like a real shark. can somebody tell me where i could find them as i typed “dolphin hammerhead sharks into google and nothing came up :( Thanks!
you may think im mad when i show you this photo,

Q&A: Small “shark” question?

Question by Sarahlol: Small “shark” question?
To begin, I already have a betta fish in a heated ten gallon and have no plans to get another fish, I was just curious about a fish I remember seeing at a friend’s house. she had a very crowded tank, and one of the fish was one that looked exactly like a hammer head shark, but it was only about one or one and a half inches long. I know there’s no way that could be a bala shark, so what could it have been? I know that its growth was probably severely stunned because the tank was so small (10 or so gallons), but is there really a fish that looks like that?
Obviously. :l

Sounds like it might have been an ID shark or Emperor ID shark. Both of which are commonly available at small sizes and grow to huge sizes.

Iridescent Shark In My Aquarium?

I have had my aquarium for quite some time now and have been able to keep everything from figure eight puffers to barbs and silver dollars. I currently have a good sized tank, and only a Rosy Barb and a Silver Dollar left, I have been doing research on Iridescent sharks, and I am aware that they are advised against because they tend to get far too large for conventional home aquariums. My vets office has an Iridescent in their 50 gallon aquarium (with many other fish) and it is only about 8″ long and is about 7 years old. I asked if they had any other experience with this happening, and they said tank life stunts their growth, but the one they had was still healthy and had not experience organ failure. After all my research I’m still really interested. Do you think it’s okay for me to have this shark live in my home aquarium?
