Q&A: Have you ever heard of a whale shark also known as a “basking whale”?

Question by rice392000: Have you ever heard of a whale shark also known as a “basking whale”?
Idiot is starting to become my “buzz” word because of late i have run into so many. Today no pun intended I ran into an idiot commentator on the “TODAY Show” and what did he say when they were featuring the “GEORGIA AQUARIUM” in Atlanta GA, he stated that not many people had even heard of a whale shark until some were captured a couple of years ago…this idiot needs to check his facts where did he get that gem? I have heard of whale sharks and seen them from the time the movie that that idiot probably never heard of either called “RING OF BRIGHT WATER” was shown in the movie theaters in 1973 the movie was made in 1969 some of the same actors from “Born Free” are in it. And of course so are Basking or whale sharks!!! So to the person that made the idiotic comment about the “whale shark” please get back to me…because when the “Today Show” hired you they were looking for quantity not a Quality thought pattern. What you said is a deep insult to many “baby boomers” !!! We should spank u!

Question by Bearded Dragon Guy: is it a red tailed shark or…?
well at the pet store i bought a “red tailed shark” that is what it was sold for but i do not know if it is a red tailed shark or a rainbow shark because i saw pictures of red tailed sharks and they where black with red tail and black fins but mine is black with red fins and tail it is also sometimes silver but most of the time it is black.

I have a rainbow shark with all of it’s fins red and it’s body is gray. They may have meant red finned shark, because they are the same as the rainbow shark. To me, it sounds more like a rainbow shark. Rainbow sharks can be either silver or black like you said.

Just sounds like a misprint on the petstores part! Perhaps you should let them know!

What Eel Will Go Well With A Bamboo Cat Shark? (that Is Not A Snowflake Or Zebra)?

Im looking to buy an eel and a bamboo cat shark for my 150 gallon tank (getting a 250 next year from a friend) and i was wondering what kind of eel is less likely to eat the shark. Im trying to get a baby bamboo and a medium sized eel.what kind of protein skimmer is affordable and good to use for this tank? What kind of filter?. i dont know anything about starting a saltwater tank with these types of fish so i could use any information that would be helpful. I went to my local pet stores and all young kids work there who have no clue what im talking about. Im not really sure how to clean a tank with these guys in it so if anyone has any experience it would be helpful i would hat for a decent sized moray to get a hold of my hand lol. Thanks

Red Zebra and Red-tail shark enjoying a cucumber

A video of my red-tail shark and red-zebra (metriaclima estherae) fishes enjoying cucumbers. They seem to love snacking on cucumbers. The red-zebra is one greedy rascal, always chasing off the others so it can lay claim to the food. Anyways, they’re fun to watch. Also seen in this video are my yellow severum, my rather shy blood red parrot fishes, and an albino cory :)
