What Small Tropical Fish Do You Recommend For A New Aquarium?

When I was younger, I had goldfish and kept them in a 65 litre (14.2 gallon) tank. Once they had died though I didn’t bother getting more.
I want to start keeping fish again, and this time I’m interested in tropical fish.
I just want some small, colourful ones that live in peacefully live in groups. I’m thinking two different species of fish, around 6 of each.
Which species should I go for? They’ll have to coexist peacefully and as I mentioned, it’s a 14.2 gallon tank, so how many could I keep depending on their maximum adult size?
Thanks :)

I’m Planning On Getting Fish. It’d Be A First Time Fish. Where Would You Recommend I Start?

Just to clarify, these are the tank kind of fish I’m wanting not the eating kind.
How much would you say it’d cost to keep a small/medium sized aquarium per year? What kind of fish would you recommend for someone just starting out with fish? What about tank size? Some sort of companionship?
I’m not sure I know all the questions to ask so by all means tell me whatever you think necessary.

What Type Of Fish Do You Recommend For Me?

Okay, I am pretty much a novice when it comes to fish keeping. I had a 10 gallon tank with a couple of guppies and things like that when I was little ( like 4-7) but they died, and my dad threw the tank out. My parents did pretty much all the work ( testing the PH, cleaning the tank, etc) since I was so young. But, I have really gotten interested in keeping fish and getting a tank lately. I am even considering becoming a marine biologist, because undersea life really interests me, and the science of keeping the water in balance and stuff like that sounds really fun and interesting.
Anyway, I am looking at getting a 60 gallon tank. What type of fish would you recommend? I was looking at getting a Tiger Oscar, because they have so much personality. I would rather have 1-2 big fish than a bunch of smaller fish, so keep that in mind(:
thanks!

What Island Is Best Recommend For Two 21 Yrs Olds Looking To Spend New Years In Hawaii?

Myself and a close friend are looking to spend New Years in Hawaii but have no idea of what island would be the best choice. We’re looking for somewhere that has a nice view of the ocean possibly a beach in an area that offers snorkeling and other things to do maybe see some whales or something at an aquarium, but also someplace that doesn’t totally die when the sun goes down. Maybe somewhere with some nightclubs or some kind of younger nightlife if that makes sense. I would appreciate any advice given …. Thanks !

What Is The Recommend Aquarium Size For An Ahli Cichlid And Other Lake Malawi Fish?

I have a 40 gallon breeder tank which I’m thinking about stocking with African cichlids most likely lake malawi. I really like the ahli aka electric blue hap, however some sites say it needs a minimum tank of 70 gallons. However I stopped by petsmart today and they had two nice ones in the tank, the description said they only said they need no less than a 20gallon tank.
Personally I think 20 is to small but my 40 breeder is right between 20 and 70. Does anyone have any experience with this fish and how big of a tank did you keep it in. I don’t want to put it in too small of a tank where the fish looks cramped and isn’t happy. However I find that some of these fish info sites on the internet don’t want you to put anything that gets over 3inches in anything less than a 100gallon tank, which is kinda ridiculous. Also if you have any advice on any other malawi cichlids like the johanni etc… let me know.

Can Anyone Recommend Filter Pads For A Fish Pod Moon Aquarium?

Can anyone recommend the best filter pads for a 39 litre ‘Interpet’ brand Fish Pod Moon aquarium?
There are obviously several different filter pads on the market but I can’t seem to find any specific to this aquarium. I’m sure that any kind of filter pad of the right size will do but I want to be sure that I’m getting the right thing.
