My mom died from a heart failure, complications of prolonged Anorexia when I was 9 She was a dancer and from what I’ve been told suffered with an obsessive eating problem most of her adult life and it got worse after having a baby (Me). I don’t really remember much about what we ate when she was alive I have trouble remembering much before the age of about 7 or 8. But I know she never ate meat and as I’d never eaten meat after she died the idea of it was horrifying so I wont touch it somehow I think its disgusting I hate the smell of it and the look of it and and I wont even eat anything that has touched meat or been into contact with meat. I also have a weird thing about eating cheese and dairy rich foods I’d rather have soya milk. Although I will have it sometimes in moderation. I feel like too much makes me feel sick. I certainly would never drink a glass of milk for example. I eat a lot of fries but I’m mostly a very fussy eater I only eat what I really like and feel like. And I don’t eat things other people have made if there’s a choice I will only eat what I make anything else tastes odd and I usually don’t like it. If I’m round my girlfriends house and they offer me dinner I would rather not have it and opt for a sandwich instead with something I know has not been touched by meat.
I went to a bbq on Sunday and I’d already thought of excuses to why I’m not having any food before I went but in the end I did eat some salad and a burger bun which I’d fetched myself. Which made my gfs mum ask a lot of questions about why I wasn’t eating. I said I was getting over a stomach flu and she tried to force me to eat the fish instead unimaginable! I don’t eat fish either.
I live with my dad now for the first time ever previously I was living in care after my mom died for 8 years. He has picked up on my funny eating habits and its because he is concerned about it its the only time I’ve ever though about what I’m like with food. It has made me really think about why I do some of the things I do and I’m thinking its maybe a little obsessive, maybe its heredity or just that I’ve learned this from my mom somehow. My gf doesn’t really know the extent of it but gets annoyed with me when we eat out, as mostly I will just eat from the salad bar or have a sandwich or fries. I think she mostly puts it down to me just being a vegetarian.
I’m really not sure if I have a problem here as Its just normal for me. No ones ever forced me to address my eating habits so I’ve just got on with it.
Another weird thing is that I’m male this sort of thing mostly affects girls who worry about their weight. I’ve never worried about mine as I’ve always been thin. My eating habits have made me anemic and I take medication for that. Since the age of about 13 but then they said it was because I’d never eaten meat not cos I have any sort of problem.
I realize I’m going on about myself and I’m not usually one to worry about myself and think too much about what I’m doing as if I live in a bubble. This is one of the few times I am cos I want to change the way I eat or don’t eat. And I don’t like people worrying about me.
