I Just Found My 5 Yr. Old Female Red Eared Slider Turtle Dead In The Pond. What Could Have Happened?

She lived with 5 goldfish and a younger female slider. She was moving in & out of the pond regularly and didn’t seem sick at all. She was eating her floating pellets.I’m shocked! I thought that turtles lived longer than this.Should I drain & clean the pond so the other turtle & fish won’t get sick?

Would A Big Oranda Do Fine In A Pond?

I have a nice clean pond with some koi and common goldfish in it. I have a big Orange and Black Oranda in my 60 gallon tank right now. I’m wondering if he would be happier in a pond or a 60 gallon fish tank. He is about 5inchs long and fat.

Clownfish Pond, Nemoville, Daydream Island

www.reefari.com Nemo’s in heaven in this Clownfish pond at Daydream island. With several different types of clownfish and large anemone’s, it is great to see for all fish lovers. Also a variety of other reef fish. Daydream Island resort has a large reef lagoon system which runs around the main centre building with various lagoons holding estuary, and reef fish, and also a small clownfish pond. If you look closely there are three types of clownfish hidden amongst the big anemones. They also do fish feeding of Stingrays and sharks and is great to see all the corals up close without having to go on a reef trip and get your feet wet. Children can also enjoy hand feed barramundi, sharks and stingrays at Daydream Island Resort and Spa Reef Lagoon, although there is an additional fee for this, but well worth it. Pond Fish Are Dying Approx One A Month?

I can’t understand what is going on, the water is great so the aquatics shop who tested it say, no disease or parasites are visible, but each month a fish starts to stay at the bottom of the pond and becomes sick doesn’t seem to feed anymore until it just lays on its side and hides behind anything until it is so ill there is no way it will recover and this is usually around a month from start to finish from the fish starting to be ill until it has hardly any life in it so i put it out of its misery. I did have 3 young koi fish last june from a aquatics shop then over the winter they formed what i believed to be carp pox. As the weather warmed up it disappeared on two of the three fish but one still has one on its fin, but that is the only thing i saw wrong with the fish, but none of the others have any of these symptoms in the 6 years of having this pond. There is a type of algae that covers the pond liner not string algae but a slimy kind which breaks away from the liner and floats on the top which i scoop of each day and the tadpoles in my wildlife pond love to eat. So If you have any idea what it is i would be grateful for your help. Many thanks

How Much Should I Sell Goldfish For And Can They Transfer From An Aquarium To A Pond?

I have 6 comets, 1 shubunkin and 1 fantail goldfish in my around 30 Gal tank. I KNOW IT IS TOO SMALL!! haha.
I am planning to sell them when they are a bit bigger as my tank is too small for them. The biggest now is just over 10 cm (comet) and smallest is about 5 cm (one comet and fantail). these sizes are all including the tail. If i wait till the biggest is about 10 – 15cm not including tail, how much do you think i can sell them for and how long will it take? They are all very well looked after too!
Also, if a buyer is wanting to put them in a pond, how will they go going to a pond rather than another aquarium? I only want the best for my fish.
Thanks :)

What Do I Need For A Large Pond?

I presume , that like an aquarium , the bigger the pond the better? I am in the process of finding out everything I need for a pond. I have purchased a 13ooo litre filter and I am currently looking for a submersible pump. I will dig down 2 foot deep and build up walls 3 foot deep , this will give me a good depth of 5 foot , 4.5foot water depth , put in a pond liner , maybe another submersible pump for a small fountain and thats it , is that all I need . I wish to keep about 30 small assorted goldfish , comets , shibunkins etc etc ranging form 2 inch – 4 inch. In the future all going according to plan I wish to keep Koi. Is this a good idea? I live in Ireland. The weather is warm to overcast in the spring/summer , cold , windy and rainy for most of the rest of the year , possibly snow in winter

My Husband Cleaned The Fish Pond, Now All The Fish Are Looking Are Very Sick!!!! Help!!?

We have a make-shift fish pond made out of a child’s wading pool in our backyard with about 12 fish in it which are mainly goldfish and koi. The koi are quite large.
The pond they were in started getting green from algae so my husband cleaned out a large plastic rubbish bin and started putting the fish in that (with the water that was in the pond, not fresh water). That was about 2 hours ago. Now he has finished cleaning the pond and has noticed that the large koi are starting to look sick like they are about to die. What could have caused this and is there anything we can do to make them survive???
BTW, the bin was just to hold them in until the pond is clean and we can put them back, not permanent.
