My New Bristle Nose Pleco Picked On My Betta?

So this new guy picked on my betta and stressed him out so much he stopped eating and died! I only had the pleco for a week. I do keep up with the water changes and do not overfeed, and there is some algae for the pelco also. So now I am afraid to get another fish because he might beat it up too! The tank is 6 gallons and the lady at the store told me it will get too big for him eventually so I am prepared to get a bigger tank, but for now what can I have in there with him? BTW he isn’t doing a very good job of cleaning the algae on the side, just the plants-is ther another good algae eater I could get?

I just put in 3 Pristella tetra and 2 black phantom Tetra. They are being picked on by my checker barbs!?

I have 1 Red tail shark, 5 white tetra, 2 checker barbs, 2 cherry barbs, 3 pristella tetra, 2 black phantom tetra, and 2 albino bristlenose plecos. I just bought the 3 pristellas and black phantoms yesterday night.

This is the first time i’ve seen my barbs harass fish. They keep attacking at my poor guys fins. Could this just be going on because they are new? I thought that those were the friendly kind of barbs and that they wouldn’t do harm. What are the chances that this will stop? The fins dont look very damaged, so maybe they aren’t actually eating them, but just like annoying them?
My tank is 20 gallons, so it’s right at capacity. My mother used to have a piranha so I think I will bring that up soon. I also have a 50 gallon tank I used to keep lizards in… but I don’t have a table large enough to hold a thing that long. My barbs are actually smaller than all of my fish except for the plecos. Maybe I could sneak a few more in? Will they school together even if i get some more later on?

Can i use these rocks in my aquarium that i picked up on the beach?

I was walking on the beach and i saw these pretty flat rocks that would look great in my planted FRESHWATER aquarium . is it safe to use them? will they change the ph or anything?
