What Fish Can I Put Into A Fish Only Salt Water Fish Tank?

Ok so this is the deal i’ve been doing freshwater tanks for 2 yrs now i can’t afford a massive salt tank which obviously is easier (55 gallons or up) but i’m gonna do a 10 gallon nano fish only salt tank. I have live sand and rock from my friends already established fishtank he’s got like 5 salt tanks and he even said he’d give me 5 gallons of water from his tank as well so that basically the tanks cycling process will be a few weeks less then it needs be basically this is what i wanna put in the tank. I’m gonna get 2 yellow tail blue damsels to start the tank after 2 weeks of the tank being set up from there i wanna get a puffer fish of some type i know that most if not all get to be 4 to 5 inchs plus but really he’d be the only top water fish and the one i’m looking into after having the tank set up for a few months is a stars and stripes puffer fish as they get to 5 inchs and the 2 damsels will stay small like 1.5 inchs and i’d get the puffer small 2 so he’d grow slowly bigger in the tank i’m also gonna get this package from petco called the cleaner package basically its a mix of every kind of salt water tank critters from snails to crab to shirmp to hermit crabs starfish and other things but i can’t remember what else it is but i was told thoose types of things don’t matter in a fish tank as to causing imbalances like fish do. But thats my idea and after the damsels die i was contemplating a dragon wrasse and a filimented flasher wrasse. will this work out or not and if not can anyone suggest any better ideas i realllllllly want the puffer and idc if he was the only fish in the tank

Smelly Fish Tank only 2 weeks old!?

Question by MRSCUCCH: Smelly Fish Tank only 2 weeks old!?
I have a 24 gallon hexagon fish tank that is holding 9 medium sized goldfish that are maybe 3-4 inches long each. Last week it was starting to smell musty so I changed out about 24qts of water and used a syphon to take out any debris on the rocks etc. The fish eat the flaked food very fast so there is hardly ever any left behind & I even changed the charcoal filter this weekend which to my surprize was very dark & dirty after only being in 2 weeks.

The fish came from my pond but I only used about 12qts of pond water in the whole tank when I transfered them.

The walls are not slimy nor does it look dirty but the water is “slightly cloudy” now… and you can smell it when you walk in the room.

What should I do ?
Thank you for your responses…

I was told by several pet shops & yahoo answers people that I had plenty of room for the fish… they cant stay in the pond because it is not deep enough for a new england winter. So they will only be in the tank till spring.

The tank smelled at 2 weeks which is why I cleaned it and changed out the 24qts of water this past weekend. I am just surprised it smells already within just a couple days.

I know goldfish are very dirty fish who poop a lot…

We were going to keep them in a large trash barrel in the basement for the winter but its too warm down there & they wont hibernate… we thought after talking to people this was a better solution. These were only about an inch big this spring.

I know about the sucker fish that clean the tank, just not sure there is enough for one to clean here & it looks like Im already short on space.

There are some fish which you need to buy and they clean your tank. They stick to glass and they are cleaning fish. They move very slowly and they seem they never move but they clean the tank so well. forgot the name but in china town they have it. They are great and cheap. I can imagine a tank without the cleaners!

Can I Be Healthy Only Eating Fruits Vegetables Fish And Eggs?

I just saw a video from PETA about the treatment of animals (Meet Your Meat). I feel sick. I don’t care about anyone’s opinion on being a vegetarian or PETA or groups like them. This is my choice I just want to make sure I am going to be healthy. If I eat fruits vegetables fish and eggs will that be a balanced diet?

Yep they really live that long. Ive had mine for around 2 years now. They need atleast a 2.5 gallon tank with a heater. Feed them 2 pellets twice a day and they will live a long while. Good luck!

What Should Be Done To People Who Only Sit Home And Watch Tv?

Should they be executed? Fat nasty couch potatoes. Watching a bunch of **** and learning nothing. If you have friends or relatives who watch TV are to bust the damn thing. Make them go fishing, ride a bike, go walking each evening, swimming, go sight seeing, bird watching, but get out of the radon infested houses. it’s making you sick. **** just fish, hunt, grow a garden, but get out and throw away the TV. Unless watching those stupid sit coms really make you laugh. People need to realize thosedrama shows and the news is why you can’t sleep. The dumbest people watch the most TV>

Trouble With My Fluorescent Light – Only Turns On When I Touch The Bulb?

I know this sounds crazy – I have a fluorescent light on my aquarium. It’s on a timer, and was working as expected for nearly a year (my brother had the aquarium previously and it worked for him). Well it quit working one day, so I bought a replacement bulb but it still didn’t work. I bought a second bulb and it still didn’t work (didn’t turn on at all), My dad replaced the ballast and switch and we thought it was working (it worked during testing). BUT when my timer turns it on, it doesn’t appear to be working. I turn over the hood and the bulb has a very dim glow of orange-ish light on each end of the bulb. As soon as I TOUCH the bulb (in the middle, or anywhere), it works!! I don’t understand what else could be the problem. I’ve re-inserted the bulb to make sure it was secure, but I can’t think of what would cause it to not work until I touch it…ideas??

I Need Recommendations For A Good Lighting(not Only Bulb, lamp Too If Possible!) For A Planted Aquarium? Thanks?

30cm by 30cm by 30 cm aquarium (30 litres :) ) with quite a few plants and fish. I need actual makes of lighting which is good for plants but can fit that size (preferably a clip on) thanks
