Tropical Aquarium With Large Mouth Bass?

I have a 210 gallon tropical aquarium with a 8 inch arowana, a 4 inch oscar and 11 silver dollars. By my house I have a lake that has some baby Large moth bass about 3.5 to 4 inches, I was thinking of tanking one home and putting it in my tank is this a good idea BTW there is a sign at the lake that says do not eat the fish because they are contaminated with mercury. Will this kill off the rest of my fish in the tank or is it strictly just a do not ingest thing? PS the bass will just be a tank mate not a food source.

What Do I Need For A Large Pond?

I presume , that like an aquarium , the bigger the pond the better? I am in the process of finding out everything I need for a pond. I have purchased a 13ooo litre filter and I am currently looking for a submersible pump. I will dig down 2 foot deep and build up walls 3 foot deep , this will give me a good depth of 5 foot , 4.5foot water depth , put in a pond liner , maybe another submersible pump for a small fountain and thats it , is that all I need . I wish to keep about 30 small assorted goldfish , comets , shibunkins etc etc ranging form 2 inch – 4 inch. In the future all going according to plan I wish to keep Koi. Is this a good idea? I live in Ireland. The weather is warm to overcast in the spring/summer , cold , windy and rainy for most of the rest of the year , possibly snow in winter

Large Oranda Goldfish Help! :(?

i bought a large golden oranda goldfish today and i am beginning to worry about his health. The guy at the pet store seemed as if he knew what he was talking about when i asked him about goldfish care. He even recommended a tank to buy,(because i had originally asked about the Biorb) he showed me the “Fluval Chi 5.5 gallon aquarium”.

I was so excited and i trusted his advice. My situation is that I feel that the tank size will jeopardize my fish’s health. Once I got home i did some research and everyone is saying that these fish need at least 10 gallons per fish and I’m beginning to feel really bad because i was sure he knew what he was talking about. He told me that the only reason they need 10 gallons is because of the large amounts of waste that goldfish make. (i understand that point) but i still don’t know why he recommended the Chi aquarium..please help, i need advice. i really don’t want Humphrey to die :( i feel i was truly mislead..kinda p.oed lol

Should Large Marine Animals Be Kept In Captivity?

I think everyone can generally agree that keeping smaller marine animals like fish, octopus, otters, etc. is not a major issue, because these animals needs can easily be facilitated in an aquarium setting, and if anything they experience a better and safer life than they would out in the ocean, where they have not only natural enemies but also human forces to endanger them. But the issue of keeping larger animals (orcas, whales, dolphins, etc) is understandably more controversial. Do you think the benefits of keeping some large marine animals captive outweigh the negative aspects, or vice versa?

Help A Large Garden Spider Survive Hibernation When She Fell Out Of Her Hidyhole?

I watched her all summer in my window sill. really cool spider. back in oct. she went up under my house siding to sleep for the winter. Christmas day I found her on the bottom of the sill. she doesn’t look healthy and obviously spiders don’t walk around in the snow, but she’s not crispy like a dead spider would be. I have moved her off the ground and into an empty turned over pot in my garage. I don’t know what else i can do to help. would bringing her in for the winter and keeping her in an aquarium mess up her natural life cycle? did she have stored food up there that she needs now? does any body have any ideas other than killing her.
