After A Columnaris Infection In Fish…?

I lost 7 of my 12 guppies to columnaris (bacterial infection). I have treated with triple sulfa and everyone now looks healthy. I also just started a new 20 gallon tank, with two honey sunset dwarf gouramis to start. My question stems around this bacteria: could it still be living in the plants and ornaments in the other tank? I have two anubias plants and piece of driftwood that I want to transfer to the other tank, but I don’t want to bring the bacteria in. I’m assuming the treatment killed the bacteria but would like to hear from others familiar with this fish disease. Also, does the bacteria die after being dried out? I have a siphon, buckets and a fish net that have been exposed to the sick tank but use these things for two other tanks.
Here is the website I used to diagnose my fish… http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/…

How can I tell if my fish has a bacterial infection or a fungal infection?

When I fed my fish this morning, I noticed that one of my brilliant rasboras was quite pale, and his body looked almost like it was covered in a thin layer of slime. A few short stringy strands of slime are hanging off his body. (They’re not very long.) Only one fish is affected, and he was behaving normally – eating, swimming, etc.

I had to be to work before the pet store opened, but I will stop by on my home. I will, of course, ask what they think I ought to treat with. I have Melafix, but I didn’t put any in the tank. If the infection is fungal, I figured it wouldn’t do a whole lot of good, and I’d rather treat the fish properly than guess at it and do more harm.

Anybody have any idea what this infection is, where it came from, and how to treat it?

20 gallon
2 glass catfish
3 brilliant rasboras
1 pineapple swordtail
1 susnet platy

Is my tank at risk of getting a infection if i take the carbon filter out?

my fish have bad fin rot and are in need of medication.
when i got the medication it said remove the carbon or zeolite filter.
do i have to remove this?

i also found another way to treat them : i catch them individually and and put drops of fin rot medication on them? does this really work?

My freshwater singray had burned himself on a aquatic heater, I think he has an infection, what do I do? Help?

I have a young freshwater stingray. In his tank I have his aquatic heater in a glass vase. The breeder we bought him from warned us about that he could eaisly burn himself if the heater is not covered, so we covered it. But, he managed to knock it over and burnt one of his eyes. The eye I think partially came off or something. It was there just burnt, and then it turned redish and is gone. The eye at leat and the socket is open. Where it was burnt around the eye it looks swollen and what appers to be puss or some kind of infection. His other eye looks swollen and he won’t eat. He is breathing a bit heavyer too I think. What do I do? The breeder said that you can’t use normal fish medications on freshwater stingrays or salts. What else? Will he fight the infection? Thanks. I may put up a picture if I can.

all my fish died after a serious infection?

I would like to reset up my fish tank. I’m tinking about getting rid of everything (gravel, decoration and filter media) because I don’t want those bacterias or parasites to infect my fish again. Is it a good idea to do so. Any suggestion how to make my fish tank free of harmful bacteria.

Is it ok to use a fungal treatment for aquariums to help a slider turtle fungal infection?

My young slider turtle has a fungal infection. It does not seem severe and I’d like to get rid of it. The website’s I’ve found have said it could be home treated a daily bath of salt water but don’t elaborate beyond that. What kind of salt and how much of it? I found a water treatment additive that says it cures ick and fungal infections in fish, will this help or harm him? I already use repto-guard in his tank and keep his water temp steady and he has blenty of basking light and UV light. I change his water weekly, but it prolly could use it every 4 days or so. (Turtles are soooo messy! I had no idea) I hesitate to change it more often cuz I think it really stresses him out. Any help would be appreciated. Turtle info seems to conflict from site to site.
Well, he doesn’t live in filthy water. I was just saying that his water seems to get cloudy within 4-5 days even with the filter (sold to me by Petco, btw) but I hesitate to stress him by changing his water more frequently.
This is what I mean about a straight answer. 2 responses, 2 different opinions. Who actually owns a turtle? No offense, but I worked at Lowes, that doesn’t make me a qualified carpenter.

Ich/Ick infection in aquarium. What to do?

I’ve got an aquarium and my fish recently got infected by Ich/Ick. My huge janitor fish, will it be infected too? I’ve done water treatment. What else should I know? Help.

I have a sick red devil fish with some white looking fungus or bacterial infection, what should i do?

I took him out of the tank with the other red devil that seems to be attacking him since hes been sick. I put him in a big bucket with a water pump and neutralized the water. I actually trapped him and put a tiny bit of antibiotic ointment on his infection.
I don’t think its ick, i think it has another name, but i’m not sure. Its a cottony looking thing. Will the ointment hurt him in small doses
