Black Moor fish with white spots?! HELP!?

I bought a Black Moor fish about a week and a half ago. They told me it was okay to put him in a bowl. So I bought a fish bowl, and some of those colorful rocks to put in the bottom. I cleaned his tank yesterday but when I filled it back up with tap water and put some of that AquaSafe stuff in it, the water was still foggy. I thought maybe it was a film coming from the rocks. But about three days ago I noticed that my fish has white spots on his body, and there seems to be more now. Today I noticed a giant white spot above his eye, but its gone now. I looked online and it said that he probaby had “Ich”? I dont know what to do to fix this. My mom had a fish and she used to use distilled water and that seemed to help the fogginess. I just need to know what to do, about the foggy water AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, the white spots. I’d be absolutey devastated if I lost this fish. Help please? Thanks so much.
Also, my fish keeps coming up for air every five seconds, like he’s sucking the air. And there are bubbles lining the top of the water. What is that?

Chemistry density problem help?

I’m just asking so i can study for my tests so please show me step by step on how you got the answer. thank you so much.

Use the density value to solve the following problems:

A) A graduated cylinder contains 18.0 mL of water. What is the new water level after 35.6 g of silver metal with a density of 10.5 g/ml is submerged in the water?

B) a thermometer containing 8.3 g of mercury has broken. If mercury has a density of 13.6 g/ml, what volume spilled?

C) A fish tank holds 35 gal of water. Using the density of 1.0 g/mL for water, determine the number of pounds of water in the fish tank.
I dont get number 2. number 2 you’re suppose to take 13.6 / 8.3 ?

Help me plan and stock my 30 gallon marine tank? Questions about fish possibilites? 10 points for best answer?

Okay so don’t worry i’ve had freshwater fish and now i definately think it’s time to move onto something more of a challenge. I also closely know a really good lfs that will help me out a lot. But basically i’m planning to have a mini protein skimmer and all the stuff that a small marine tank has. Now for fish i have a few questions: (by the way the tank will be fish only with live rock until i feel comfortable to add some corals or an anemone in the future)

1) I definately want 2 ocellaris clown fish, lets face it they’re essential to any marine tank in which they’re compatible. So do they need an anemone?

2) Bangaii cardinal fish, so i hear that they’re best in pairs because they get quite aggressive to the odd one out. Any thoughts on these guys?

3) Green chromis, okay so i hear they’re relatively peaceful and a good little fish. I know they’re damsel fish but do they like to be kept in groups? How many could i get (comfortably) in the 30 gallon?

4) Longnose hawkfish, i’d love one of these guys (only one) and i can’t see why i’d have many problems with one. How does that sound?

5) Schooling fish, i really want to have a schooling fish, any suggestions?

6) Coral beauty angel fish, don’t really want one but i may as well throw it into the mix, any opinons on these guys?

7) Bicolour blenny?
8) what is an ideal anemone for the ocellaris and how hard are they to look after? (don’t freak out about it i’m not going to be getting one the first day i set up the tank)

So an ideal first stocking would be:

2 x ocellaris clownfish

1 x longnose hawkfish

and

6 x Chromis (if they like to be kept in groups, or another schooling fish)

How does that all sound and please give me any suggestions but i definately feel i’m ready to go marine.
I would also love some type of cleaner shrimp, ideally the skunk clener shrimp (lysmata amboinensis)

Thanks
I don’t want to add all of these fish. They’re just some fish that i’ve read are suggested for marine beginners, they are some of the fish i would like to incorperate and with the information given i’m wanting people to give me suggestions on how to mix and match them.

Need Betta care help!?

First off all, I keep my Betta in a 1 Gallon tank. I dont want any messages about how thats too small because it’s not at all. I had a Betta before that live a year in a 1/2 gallon tank. And even the Pet store suggests 1 Gallon. Ok here are my questions:

- I cleaned my Betta’s tank on Thursday and the water still looks pretty clean but has “excreted/pooped” lol twice since then. It’s poop is green gross little blobs…ew. It stays at the bottom with the gravel but I’m worried it’s going to kill my fish for something. Will it hurt my fish? How often should I change it’s tank? With my last fish, I changed the water once a week. Friends of mine that have Betta say that they change it once a week too.

- My Betta seems to ALWAYS be asking for food. I dont want to feed it more than twice a day but it’s always waiting for food to come. It looks at me now because it knows I have the good stuff and it goes to the top of the tank, not to breath the bubbles out, but to look. Is this normal? It’s a smaller sized Betta so I expected it wouldnt eat that much. Right now I’m feeding it twice a day, 3 – 4 bits each feeding.

- If you put more conditioner in the tank that should be, will your fish be harmed? I’m just asking because the conditioner I have doesnt say how much I need to put it. Right now I’m putting in one “cap-full” of the conditioner. How much should I be putting in?
@Mark: ….Someone’s got a big vocabulary and a little dicktionary. But hey, I’m sure you’ve still got your looks – where are you keeping them? I didnt ask for a cocky remark. No best answer for you, honey.

Please help, my Betta has fin rot?

Got the betta in a vase with a plant on top from a wedding. Did research, found this was awful. Bought a 10 gallon tank, filter, heater – set it up, put the betta in 24 hrs later. Then found out about cycling the tank. Didn’t know I should have done that first.

Did A 25% water change 1 week in. Betta started flaring fins and gills the next day. Got scared, did another 25% water change the following day. Rubber banded an extra charcoal filter cartridge to the outtake of the filter because the current was knocking him all over the tank. Now, 4 days later, he has fin rot. Bought a master test kit, Maracyn Two and Melafix. Also bought “TLC Freshwater Start Smart” that’s supposed to “instantly cycle aquariums”.

Readings – Ammonia – .50/1 ppm, Nitrites – .50/1 ppm, Nitrates – 0/5.0 ppm, PH started at 7.2, now 7.6.

Which medicine is better? Do I do another water change before I administer the medicine? Do I administer the medicine completely and then add the Start Smart? Will the Start Smart harm the betta? I wish I knew more before I got him but now I just want to fix the problems so he can be healthy and happy. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.
Did a 25% water change last night, added Maracyn Two, will treat with that for 5 days to see if it works then do another 25% water change. Might add aquarium salt as well, due to good reviews. Don’t want to use the Smart Start until I’m sure Maracyn Two won’t kill the beneficial bacteria in it.

I asked the guy at the fish store (mom & pop, not a chain) and he tried to tell me Bettas don’t need a heater. So there’s THAT level of trust goin’ on. SO I thought I’d ask you guys.

I think when I put a cartridge over the filter outtake during cycling, it slowed the filtration down – causing dirty water quicker than normal and thus – high ammonia & nitrites = fin rot.

Then again, could be stress. I’m just worried about him.
Well, you’re not really supposed to cycle tanks with fish in them. It’s kinda mean to the fish, whether they’re “hardy” or not. Apparently it decreases their lifespan and makes them vulnerable to disease (like fin rot). If I don’t change the water my Betta could get more damaged.

The Maracyn Two says to treat for 5 days and then change the water. I’m afraid to wait even the five days but I figure they know better than I do and I don’t want to remove any of the medicine that might heal the infection.

After the treatment I’m gonna add the Start Smart and monitor levels daily to see if it works. Hopefully I can get him through this. I do have him heated at 78-79 degrees. I don’t remove food he doesn’t eat because it sinks too fast but I wait to get his attention before I feed him so he usually eats exactly what I give him.

blue flamed tetra badly hurt help please!?

my blue tetra is being beet up by other blue tetra and black phantom tetra’s what should i do sepaerate him into another tank where he will be very lonely or let him work it out?

Aquarium expert help, please?

We have a 35 gallon tank that has a large filter and aerator on it. It was perfectly fine for 3 months, but for some reason this month the water is turning green. I can change it totally out and it stays clear for a whole 3 days and then right back to the color change.

The filter is clean, I changed out the charcoal and rocks, didn’t help.
There is no alge actually visual on the walls of the tank, or the plastic plants inside, everything looks clean but the water looks TERRIBLE!

Help, I’m a novice at this and I’ve tried everything I can think of to get it back to clear and pretty! :)

Oh, I did purchase some alge clear treatment, when I put it in the water the tank went clear for a whole 3 hours and then was right back to green water. AAGGH!
