Stocking a 12 gallon aquarium (12 gallon Eclipse with heater and included filter.?

I am going to get an eclipse 12 gallon aquarium and I’m also going to buy a heater. The substrate is going to be sand and it will have live plants. Here’s my stocking plan. 6 albino cory catfish, 2 African Dwarf Frogs and a veiltail female betta. I already own the betta and need to get it a new tank because it’s currently living in a 1 gallon tank with an air pump, rocks, and decor (I understand this is an improper tank, but as of right now she’s doing fine. Would I be overstocking my tank and/or placing incompatible fish in the tank, I want them to be happy. Also I can’t what heater to get. Should I get 50 watt or 100 watt? Please give me a link to a HIGH QUALITY heater under or around 50 dollars. Thanks and an additional advice would be extremely helpful as this is my first tank (except for the one I have the betta in and I don’t call that a tank). which fish should I use for cycling and after cycling what order/how should I introduce my other fish? Also How do I convince my parents to let me get it. They don’t know I want this yet because im not sure how to approach them about it. Parents, what made you let your kids get a fish tank? Teens, how Did you convince your parents to allow you to have the tank? I plan on buying everything my self by working at my parents restaurant and I currently take care of my tank all by myself and have plenty of room. I think they’re just gonna say you don’t need any fish at all mention it again you’re grounded. Thanks for reading the long question extra tips greatly appreciated!

Why is my Blue hippo tang hiding by the heater?

I just bought a blue hippo tang and yesterday it was swimming freely and just fine. However, today it is just sitting right next to the heater. What is it doing, is the water too warm or too cold? Please help.

Red/Brown Algae on Heater?

I have a 29 gallon tank with 5 Blue Paradise Gourami’s. I also have a 5 gallon tank which, up until recently, was empty.
I kept the lights on while cycling, which caused a lot of algae growth. The 5 gallon tank (2 weeks older than 29 gal) was completely covered in Red/Brown colored algae.
I bought 2 plecos, and put them both in small tank for quarantine, and in hopes they would clean it. They did, overnight. Sparkling, perfectly clean.
I plan on moving the larger-species pleco to the larger tank soon, but am concerned about the grainier-looking very orange algae (I think it’s algae anyway) on the Heater. It looks almost like dust-buildup, and is much more orange and more textured than all the other algae. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is it possible that it is rust or something similar (actually looks an awful lot like it) that will harm the pleco, or will he cook himself trying to clean the heater?
Both tanks are cycled, Ammonia&Nitrites = 0, Nitrates = 20 or so.
