Do I Have To Clean My Aquarium Gravel?

:( I asked my mum to add gravel to my new tank and assumed she would clean it before adding it but she didn’t and now the water is (light) brown I can hardly see plants or anything.. but it’s better than one hour ago (when she added it). I’ll add fish to that tank next week. Will they mind it if I won’t clean it?? It’s kinda big so I don’t feel like decorating and filling it again but I will do it if it’s really necessary.

I bought a gravel cleaner from our local pet store. It’s not electric, and it doesn’t have a bag or anything connected to it (like I’ve read in previously research). I read the directions correctly on the packaging, but it took out SOOO much water and barely any waste. I’m just wondering if it would be easier to just scoop out all the gravel somehow and rinse it in warm water instead of having so much of a water change (I wasn’t even halfway done and 50% of the water was out of the tank) that it harms the fish.

I’m buying a 10 gallon fish tank for my Betta, Patrick! I need to know if he can have carribean sand at the bottom of his tank instead if gravel or glass rocks. Is it too hard to clean with? Do I have to toss it out with every cleaning? Or does it wash and go back in?

Deciding Fish Tank Gravel, What Should I Do?

So i was given a 55 gallon and stand for free. I have had fish tanks in the past so i figured heck why not set up a freshwater comunity tank. Get a few angelfish and a school of fish and maybe some cories. Just some thoughts. The only problem i am having is i dont want to spend a ton on gravel. So i was thinking of using play sand as the substrate, or maybe some river pebbles cuz i know i can find them at lowes/ home depot for a low price and a lot. But then i got to thinking, i want something that is black, or dark in color. And natrual looking. What could i use that is black? Is there any black sand or something like this? If you know of anything that is not gunna come through a aquarium fish store could you let me know? Maybe a link? Any ideas are helpful. I live in florida.

I have a tropical fish tank and the gravel is a bit dirty. Is it ok to clean the gravel or will that destroy all the bacteria ??

okay so i screwed up and added small size aquarium gravel to my 135 gallon aquarium without rinsing it out first. now my water is >extremely< cloudy. is my filter gonna remove it eventually or am i gonna have to do water changes to remove the cloudiness? really don't want to do 100% water change.

Fish Tank Gravel Cleaner?

Can anyone recommend a good one please , we keep gouramis and have a plecostomus (not sure how to spell it ) and have had various sucking loaches in the past but the gouramis seem to think that they are food, any plants in the tank are treated as salad for the fish. The tank only looks good for about 2 weeks after cleaning then the algae builds up again , we don’t remove all the water each time of cleaning as it’s not good for the eco balance of the tank but it’s so frustrating having the tank look so bad so quickly. We have had the gravel quite a while and I don’t know how often it may need to be replaced .

Why Are My Fish Laying On The Gravel?

I just cleaned my fish tank and now most of my fish are laying on the gravel. They were all fine before I cleaned it. Are they just adjusting to the new water, or are they stressed out?
