Would These Fish Be Good In A 10 Gallon Aquarium?

For X-Mas this year I am getting a fish tank. We don’t know a lot about fish, so help would be nice!!
Could you also tell me the basics of how to take care of these fish? Just so I have an idea before I go to the pet store to buy them. :)
Fish:
4 Platties
6 Rasbora Hemophora (sp?) Danios
1 Otoclinus (Algae Eater)
2 Mystery Snails
I went to a website that calculates how full a tank is, and they said is was at 111% with 100% being ideal.

Do You Think This Is A Good Surprise Trip Idea For My Boyfriend? How Should I Organize It?

thank you so much in advance if you take the time to read this and respond its so appreciated!
So my boyfriend is a marine and will be on leave for ten days coming up next month. I was wondering if you think the things I want to do are a good idea and what you think would be the smartest way to do it? Thanks in advance!
Im taking him to Monteray bay for two days and one night. I picked a gorgeous bed and breakfast with a romantic room.
The things I want to do are:
Have dinner at a restaurant the day we get there and spend the first night at the hotel.
The next day I want to check out (which is at 11) go to the Aquarium and then after spending 3-4 hours there go to Watsonville and go to a shooting range for a while and then take a 35 minute helicopter ride (preferably at sunset) in the same city. It takes 40 minutes to get from Monteray to Watsonville.
Do you think thats too much planned in one day? I didnt want to do much on the first day since our drive is four hours to the hotel and check in is at 3. That doesnt leave much time for dinner and time at the bed and breakfast. What do you think? Possible? And is it a good idea? Thanks!!

Would this be a good Aquarium Set up?

Question by Nick: Would this be a good Aquarium Set up?
I have a 55 gallon, with sand and decor. I currently have 7 Tiger barbs, 2 gouramis, 3 Albino Corydoras, and 5 Gold barbs.
If I return the 3 Cory’s and give away a Gourami.
Would I be albe to get 5 Cherry barbs?
So I would have 1blue gourami, 7 Tiger barbs, 5 Gold barbs, and 5 Cherry barbs.
Im going for a All barb Freshwater Tank, since Barbs are very Hardy, never had one die on me, not even in extreme conditions! (That does not mean Im going to stop daily maintanance of my fish tank)And because the Tigers just pick on everything else I get, except other barbs, they seem to get along fine with the Gold barbs, its like they know theyre from the same familiy, just different barb species.
Anyways, what you guys think? Or if I get rid of both gouramis and the COrys.
What other barb combination can I make?? Thanks!!

You should be able to add them without get rid any of your fish. Your tank is like 89% stocked so it should be fine. But monitor the new fish and observe them well and see what is happening.

Good Luck!

Taken during an afternoon trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California. Well worth a visit if you are ever in the area!

One of the fish in one of the big tanks pops up to greet the many onlookers. :)

I typically upload in small sets – don’t just look at the latest one in my photostream as you might be missing something you’ll like more…. and your comments are ALWAYS welcome :)

Why Is Salt So Good For Fish?

I have 3 gold fish in a filtered tank. Just recently the filter broke. They started to look like they were dying, and very sick after a while. A friend told me to put table salt in the tank. I did it and they perked right up. Acting as if they were before the filter broke. I plan to buy a new filter when my check comes in. I was just curios as to why that worked so well. I figure it may have something to do with salt making oxygen or something. I just want to hear some theory’s, if i am right.

2 Gallon Tank Good For Just One Betta Fish?

I bought a 2 gallon tank for a betta fish I plan to get, I was going to set it up before getting the fish. Is a 2 gallon take a good environment for just one betta? I don’t plan on getting two yet and the 2 gallon tank was in my budget (i’m a college student) if I come by more money I’ll get a bigger tank and more fish. Also! Are there any good places (or good breeders) to buy healthy betta fish from? I would prefer inexpensive betta but I guess I would risk getting a sicker one, but then again I don’t mind trying to nurse one back to health, I just don’t know if I would do a good job at making it well since I’m a mere beginner haha. Thanks a lot!

When Is A Good Time To Change My Goldfish Water Completely?

I have (5) goldfish in a 50 gallon tank, I just change the water completely (ewh) Yuck ! .. My new girlfriend hadn’t changed it in what seemed like months, I accidentally killed (no. they died) do to my not knowing how to actually care for them in the changing water process. So that has been about two weeks, but I noticed yesterday that their water was already getting foggy and looked really dirty so i wanted to do as has been advised to clean it a 25%. of the tank, but when I started shaking up the water and moving some of the rocks around. I noticed there was a large amount of debris and waste right there so I cleaned that as well and then I took more water out to a half. and it was even dirtier so I took out more ….. almost, close if not 75% of the water. leaving only 25% and they started looking at me like “Wow, I thought you were our friend”… But I didn’t want to torture them by taking them out of their inviorment again. and it seemed like as soon as the water started coming back in .. they were alright. .. I would mix all the conditioner and wait for about twenty minutes then I would poor the cleaned water into the aquarium.. and they would go after the new water like it had some kind of food or nutrional value to it. (I noticed because I would poor each new filling on each side of the tank and they would move to the most recent side that I poored into) But It is a real Job changing that tank. Taking all the rocks and all their BIG rocks they play around and hide around in is alot of work. I know if I dont do it, it will not get done .. and they now depend on me to ffeed them every morning. which I love doing. they seem like dogs when they get happy and wiggle like a dog does its tail. but does it upset them when I take them out of their element ? and how many fish should I put in the Temporary container. how big should it be ? will the tap water effect them for a short period or should that water be conditioned too, or should it be the water from which they just came from ? and how long is too long to have them out of the tank with all the filters and oxygen they need ? I appreciate all responces and thank you for reading this.

Good Paying Careers Involving Scuba Diving?

I want to scuba dive in these great tropical places to see the tropical fish and animals, the reef, and every little crevice in that reef. Unfortunately no career existed, like that of course, that comes even close to paying well. Why is that, I want to study marine animals all over the world but every career is so technical and boring, there isn’t an adventurous career that takes you across the globe doing things nobody could of even thought of? Again why is that? I don’t want to study the cells or organs of a plankton, I mean yea it may be important but why does the job have to be so boring. Sitting in a lab all day isn’t my idea of marine biologist. I want something fun but something that doesn’t take up every minute of my life. Maybe working some job at an aquarium?
