Should i get these 2 55 gallon tanks for 40$?

Question by pimppistol: Should i get these 2 55 gallon tanks for 40$?
“$ 40 for both tanks.

Both have broken plastic rims. New plastic rims can be bought on the internet from All-Glass:

http://www.epinions.com/review/AllGlass_St…-3A593C64-prod2

http://www.aqueonproducts.com/about/contact-us

Or you can glue glass center braces and fix the tanks that way. I have one glass brace already cut to size. It needs to be siliconed in place. I will give you a free big tube of the best German aquarium silicone (“Perennator”) if you buy both tanks.”

i dont know exactly what rimless is though. is the rim the thing at the top that goes around it?? and its not completely needed is it?? if it is, how much would that cost??

thanks!!

Can I put Danios in my 26 gallon aquarium along with my Serpae?

aquarium fish species
by wallyg

Question by Movie.Junkie: Can I put Danios in my 26 gallon aquarium along with my Serpae?
I have a 26 gal tank with 8 Serpae Tetra. I know each serpae grows around 2.2 inches, so I can put only about 10 more inches of fish. I’m thinking of Zebra Danios to add in, but I’ve heard Serpae are a little iffy with other species. If I can add Dans how many should I get (I know they like to be in groups) and what special things do they need (I know they are active and are known to jump)?

just to tell you, my danios were a little aggressive toward the fins. but otherwise they will be fine.

Need Help What to buy and setting up my New 125 Gallon Saltwater Aquarium?

Question by : Need Help What to buy and setting up my New 125 Gallon Saltwater Aquarium?
I just bought a 125 gallon oceanic aquarium from a guy locally. With the purchase he gave me A LOT of stuff. I have never done saltwater and think that I am going to try it this time. I would like to do a Saltwater Reef Tank. With my purchase, he gave me 3 Filstar Xp3 Canister filters, Angstrom 25W UV sterilizer, multiple powerheads, and a full RO/DI system, and much more.

The reason for my post is that I was curious how to set this full system up. And What I need to buy additionally. First things first he gave me 2 35″Coralife florescent lights. I know that this will not be sufficient but I was curious what type of lighting I need to get. I also have a 48″ Coralife T5 light with both the 10000k and blue Bulb. I really would like to know which lighting would be cheapest and work with a reef tank.

Next I was curious about the filters. I planned on setting all 3 of them up with this tank. I know that one will be hooked through the UV filters. Is it necessary to have a UV in saltwater or no? Also, Do I need a protein skimmer? If so which is the best inline one I can hook with my XP3. Also, With the filters, which Media do I use? Is it the same media as freshwater media? Carbon, foam, bio max, etc.

Next I was curious how much live rock and live sand I should get for the aquarium. I do want to have a decent amount of fish and was even thinking about getting a lionfish eventually.

All in all i really would like to know what else I need to get to use this freshwater equipment for a saltwater tank. Thanks and I look forward to an in depth response

it sounds like a good start, but the first purchase should be a good book on setting up, stocking, and maintaining a saltwatwr aquarium. it will not only help answer many of your questions in proper detail, but will help you discern good info from bad for the questions you do have.

also google search a good saltwater forum for mor reliable info.

55 gallon Planted Community Update

It’s been a while since I posted a video of my 55. The entire setup has changed since the last video, completely! New plants, fish, equipment… Currently, it’s in a transition stage, I’m waiting for new growth to become more robust before I move and replant. Ideally, the scape will consist mainly of Lily and Louts plant types, with the occasional accent plant to break things up. Fish: Hi-fin Red-Eyed Red Swordtails, Albino Bushynose Pleco, Adonis Pleco, Endler’s Livebearers, Ember Tetra, Albino Cory Catfish, Half Moon Betta, Kuhli Loaches, Pea Puffer, Nerite Snails, and Amano Shrimp. Plants: Aponogeton Ulvaceous, Onion Plant, Bacopa Monieri, Variegated Lily (green and red), Red Dwarf Lily, Cardinal Plant, Unknown species of Lotus (speckled red/green lily-like plant), Christmas moss, Amazon Sword, and some sort or red plant I’ve forgotten the name of. Equipment: Marineland 110 Canister, JBJ Reaction Uv Sterilizer/canister filter, Tetra Whisper 45 power filter (filled with Eheim media and floss), Aquatic Life Co2 Reguator/Solenoid, Rio water pumps, Corallife Uv Sterilizer and 48″ Dual Power Compact Fluorescent, Glo 48″ Dual T5 HO, and a Marineland Heater.

70 Gallon Community Tank Update

Hey guys, just an update of my 70 gallon tank =) I’ll try to upload a video of my 20 eventually…. the rainbowfish are a bit camera shy… So here is my big tank as it stands now, and I’m very happy with it. I have a rag-tag team of fish who all get along nicely, some of which I inherited from friends or in some other way, and an explosion of plants! Swords tend to grow extremely well in this tank, as does the jungle vals, as you can see… Tons of driftwood, plants, a little rockscaping, a pot and a coconut to make places to hide. Unfortunately I was unable to film my lovely bristlenose plecos, as they were hiding at the time =( This tank has eco-complete for substrate, Fluval T5 “GLO” lighting system, a Fluval 450 canister filter, an aquaclear 70 gallon over-the-side filter, and is maintained by small water changes every week =) Notable fish you’ll see…. Corydoras (Mainly sterbais, but I have a few I’ve acquired of other species) yoyo loaches, cardinal tetras, rummy-nose tetras, pearl gouramis, one moonlight gourami (queen of the tank), odessa barbs, otocinclus, florida flagfish, and one beastly big yellow/brown betta. The betta was a bit experimental when first placed in this tank, but he has harmed no one and is happy as can be. =) And as I said, you’d see the two bristlenose plecs had they come out to play while I was filming. Thanks for watching =D

I can definitely tell you NOT to get any kind of goldfish. They eat everything else you put in the tank with them, other than other goldfish! Just a simple suggestion…

Pasty Died
aquarium set up

Well, the carnival fish didn’t last twenty-four hours. Matter of fact, he was dead in the morning.

But, Evan had already set up a small aquarium for his carnival friend, Pasty, and before Evan arose this morning, I had already bought goldfish food. What’s a family to do?

The new black moor doesn’t yet have a name. And, it cost slightly more than the price of a ticket to play the game that had won the feeder fish.

But hopefully, it will live longer than a day!

100 gallon goldfish tank – 3 months old

Here is an updated video of my goldfish tank. The tank was set up on 20th of July, 2009. 3 months later, my plants have reached a good amount of growth. I use no CO2, the substrate is coarse white playsand. In the back of the tank I buried plastic shoe boxes full of regular soil to provide a more nutritious substrate for my swords. My lighting is a 4′ T8 shop light purchased from Walmart for , with a single 6500K Daylight bulb.
