I have a 10gallon that has been sitting with no fish for good 3 months. I finally got time to go buy some fish, went to petsmart and like the neon tetras there. I noticed they had ich, pretty sure they did so I looked for a tank where the fish looked healthy and no sign of the spots. Finally picked the red minor tetras, they looked ok at the store. Picked 6 of them. After coming home I floated the bag in my tank for good 20-30 minutes before letting them in. They are just hovering in the middle of the tank and their fin movements are really fast, spastic/jerking. They seem to be breathing fast as well. They basically look like my neons when they got ich (lost all of them) but without the spots. Should I start the ich treatment just in case? I can’t up the water temp because my heater is factory se to 74F and I can’t change it, unless I buy another heater. I put in some aquarium salt.
I really wish there was another fish store around here so I wouldnt have to deal with petsmarts and their sick fish.

DaryK Chyi (Chyi-Chyi) iz my Black Bear Hamster and I love him alot. But over time I learn that his cage doesn’t really suit him in many ways. For Example, his size, how he likes to burrow, and how he loves to run.

I’m thinking of putting him in a 20 Gal. long aquarium, with a large custom tank topper. Where I feel would match his burrowing tendancies, and have a fun time nesting.
With this Idea I would plan to get some type of small rodent to run through the tunnels on the old set up.
My questions are:
Would Daryk Chyi be better suited for the Crittertrail Cages or 20 Gal. Long w/ Large Tank Topper?

What type of hamster could I get for Crittertrail Cages that wouldn’t chew on the cage? I like small black rodents for this. What breed would that be though. No suggestions on Syrian Hamsters or Gerbils due to size chewing habits pleaze.

It was bulky trash day… and someone decided to use a perfectly good 40g tank as a dumping spot for used motor oil. I’d like to use this tank for raising freshwater shrimp later. I know, I’ve kept fish before. soap = not good. But oil can’t be good either, right? Paradox. Yeah. I’ll take anything. Help me?

after everytime i clean my 5 galllon betta fish tank there is a strong smell coming from it. Everything is coated in a slimy coating that looks orange-ish and smells very strong. I have an eclipse corner 5 tanks with a 3 stage filter in it, air bar and heater. I figured the smell was ammonia but not sure. what is it?

I set up my fish a few days ago so it could cycle a bit before adding fish. I put in stuff the balance pH, remove excess nitrogen, ammonia, etc. Using a test strip all my levels are good.
The problem is that there’s the water is still cloudy with some white stuff. It has mostly settled at the bottom of the tank in a layer on the rocks, plants, and around the filter. There is also a white ring of the stuff at the top of the tank from where some of the water has evaporated.
In the tank there are NO fish, and the gravel and filter a brand new. The only things that aren’t are the actual tank (10gal) and the fake plants. But I cleaned those thoroughly with extremely hot water before resetting up the tank so I can’t image it’s old bacteria or anything.
How do I get this stuff out of the water? I want some new fish.

this is my first experience with a pleco i never had an algae eater first hearing about them too. i had fishes for years never heard of an algea eater till after 3 yrs of not having an aqaurium i decided to get one again. i have an 20 gallon tank and will be upgrading to a bigger one, due to doing my research on plecos, i have the common one i think,i first bought the baby one and had three not together but everyone that i bought from petco or petsmart kept dying i guess they were sick b/c the tank they took them from there was dead ones in there, so i decided to try pet warehouse and their fishes look healther and i got a 4inch pleco from them b/c i was too afraid of loosing another baby pleco i thought get the 4inch one less worrying at night to wake up to a dead pleco. so far he is doing great looks health but he never come out from hiding i only seen him once on the glass and thats it i have a big house a drift wood and a cave and he likes the house more and he hangs upside down in it and no other fish comes in the house or he will raise hell , lol the only thing i see is his big eyes looking out the house window at me lol i try putting the wafers in the house and block any entrance from my fish going in it to eat it b/c before when i would just drop it in the tank my fishes would attack it and he wouldnt get any i leave it in at night and in the morning gone so i dont know if my fish eating it or my pleco i want him to eat and feel comfortable to come out. i read up alot on him but some people say they wont come out for months and then they might be comfortable and then adventure out ,HELP ME TO GET MY PLECO TO COME OUT and swim around , hes not even cleaning my tank lol hes just in the house all day everyday. i am reading up as much as i can and buying all different types of food for him . when my parents go food shopping for our dog i would have them go for my pleco lol … but my fish keeps eating it , should i separate him in another tank and feed him that way i dont know what to do HELP.

i have 5 plattys , some newborn plattys and an injured gourami in my 15 gallon tank i put some ammonia decrease stuff and ph increase and they still are laying on the bottom and some of them have a clear looking poo i was treating one for ick in another tank and it seemed fine so i put it back in and i think it still has it so i put more meds in. is it just ick or something eles with the other fish?

Ok so i`m doing a project on the order of good cheer ( im in gr. 7) and i need to make this sound like its in the 17th century, we are doing a party invatation that consists of a menu of 5+ different meals, a clothing request and an invite with place, time and date.
here is my menu…
meal 1: pea soup and baked rabbit along with salad.
meal 2 : lobster and crab sided with ride.
meal 3 : moose with drizzled gravy and sprinkled corn.
meal 4 : baked beaver tail along with bread and blueberry jam
meal 5 : Red snapper (fish) driizzled with corn syrup.
DESSERT!
Rassberry and honey due pie.
Corn bread along with either blackberry or maple syrup and sprinkled with blueberries.
I know the menu is horrid but its fine to get me at least a 80% (says my teacher)
The clothing!
Breeches or Jodapers
Hats- castor gras, Clerical, D`orsay or Regent
The shirt must be your finest lien shirt.
Leather shoes and eaither a leather or fur jacket.
The date is nov. 24 in 1606 (is that date right?)
The feast will begin at 5:54pm SHARP and hosted by grand master tina aldaoud! ( its fine my teacher doesnt care. )
