Why Does Algae Grow So Fast In My Aquarium?

Hi, i have a 15g tropical fish tank with this stocking,
4xneon tetra
3x guppys
2x cory
The light is on for 8hrs on a timer, the temp is at a constant 77F. I have plastic plants and sand on the bottom. i also have one ornament. I cleaned my tank out yesterday morning and today thers already signs of black algae growing on all the plants, some more than others.
I was told flow current can stop it, so would a mini powerhead ( i know its designed for marine) stop this problem?
Btw, i have a marina slim s15 external filter on 24hrs apart from 5mins at feeding time.
Any ideas
Thanks
Mike

Goldfish Keeps On Movin His Mouth And Gills Really Fast? 10 Points/:?

Well, I got the fish two days ago. Regular orange goldfish. I really don’t know why but I’m really caring for it. I clean it’s tank twice a day. I feed him 2 times a day. Morning and evening. And today for some reason it keeps on moving his gills and mouth SO fast. It’s alot faster then 1 second lol. Please help? Does this mean he’s dying?! <\3 I named it and everything, lmao.

Why Is My Tetratec Ex1200 Not Pumping Water As Fast In My Aquarium?

I have the above external filter and I can visibly see that its not pumping the water out of the return pipe as fast as when I first set it up. I have had it for 4 weeks now.
I cant see any blockages or dirt in the pipes and I have changed the impeller as I had a spare.
I dont feel it is due to clogged filter media after only having it for just 4 weeks.
I have replaced the filter floss however and the carbon media.
There is a valve that you can turn to increase water flow on the top of the filter but when I open it the water dosen’t flow any faster and in fact the water is flowing at the same rate no matter what setting you turn this valve to. Is this the fault??
Could it be that the motorhead is at fault and the motor is running slow?
Any ideas.?

Betta Fish Has A Bloated/ Bulging Throat…help! Fast :o!? (please)?

I have a beautiful blue/purple male betta who is housed in a 5.5g filtered aquarium. As I was cleaning the water, I noticed a sort of bulging, bubble-like throat. Its not like a small pimple or anything, its literally the whole throat section, AKA the part right after the gills but before the ‘body. The pelvic fin is located there (the pelvic fin as in that long small fin, not the big fin at the bottem. He is acting relatively normal, no different behavior. His only companions in that tank are a snail and a bunch of plants. Sorry if this is confusing, im trying to give the full description.

Additional Details
I have just placed half a Catappa/Indian almond leaf in there and added like 1/2-3/4 of a TBSP of aquarium salt (not marine salt). Will this help?

Need Fast Fish Help For My Fish Tank?

I have a fairly large tank with mostly guppies (which I breed) a male beta, albino rainbow shark, albino corydoras catfish, 4 neon tetras, and a plecostomus.
Recently I noticed one of my female guppies has a clear skin like coat all over her face and body. I’m not sure what is wrong with her but she is the only fish with it. I figured it was nothing so I went to bed, wake up the next day and she is still the same. She is still eating fine, and still accts normal except for rubbing against the gravel and some of the other tank plants and decorations.
My tank is completely clean, it’s around 30 to 40 gallons, and these fish have been living in the tank about 3 months now. There is nothing else wrong with the female guppy, but I want to be sure she isn’t sick and in need of some sort of treatment. I have changed the tank water, and yes it does have salt and all the other goodies needed for my fish. I spoil them rotten. I just want to be sure the small fry guppies in the tank now wont be affected by whatever the female has. None of the other fish are affected.

My Fish Tank Gets Covered In Algae Really Fast?

I have a 3-Gallon fish tank with one fish in it. I have a filter and a heater. I clean the tank every two weeks, but that is because within days it gets covered in brownish orange algae stuff. How can I fix this? Is it my filter? And will snails help it?
(The fish is an Angel Fish)
