Is It True That Fancy Goldfish Can Have Worms?

okay so i have 5 fancy goldfish in a 125 litre tank..the water is always clean and clear,i have a strong filter and change 20% of water every week they are all healthy and swim around like they are happy..but i can’t help noticing that one of them always has long white things hanging out of the gill..and often in the mornings i find long stringy poo hanging to the plants.
It’s nothing ive done it’s these aquatic shops they are not looking after fish properly there.
I am feeding them dried worms, flakes, granules and peas 3 or 4 times a week so they have variety in there diet..also another of the fancy goldfish has a few spots on the body which do look like eggs or something.I have tried bacterial treatment and white spot treatment but there is no change.
does anyone have any ideas..how do i know they have worms and how can i treat it?
no pet store is selling treatment for worms i dont want them to die they are really beautiful fish.
would a veterinary know about fish?

Question by DreamingOfChocolate: Fancy Guppy aquarium set-up?
HI! I was wondering how to set up a Fancy Guppy Aquarium? I have a heater, a filter, plants, and a rock cave. Do i need water conditioners? Salt? What types of food? When can i put my guppies in? how do i take care of them?

Water conditioner is required for all fish (unless you’re drawing from a well or something that doesn’t have chlorine) Salt isn’t necessary but it is okay. I feed mine flakes and once in awhile freeze dried bloodworms. They can be feed brine shrimp as well but it shouldn’t be there stable food since they’re mostly protein and guppies need veggies as well. Fish to definitely avoid with Fancy Guppies would be anything that is aggressive, especially fin nippers. I just have mine with a bunch of bottom feeders lol

I am assuming that this tank is new so you will need to cycle it before you add any fish. Cycling is basically building up good bacteria that will feed on ammonia and nitrates in your tank since those are very harmful to fish. It is very important to do this or all your guppies WILL die x: Cycling does take awhile, over a month (someone please correct me if I am wrong). Then you can add your guppies.

Good luck~

My Fancy Goldfish Is Possibly Sick, Please Help?

My fancy goldfish has a pinkish white spot on it’s scales. It’s not big, it’s pretty small for being on him. He lives in a healthy tank, I have plants, real ones, and three other goldfish. They don’t seem like they should stress, they have the perfect life. But I did recently get frogs. So can this be it? He does have the bladder thing, where he sucks up too much and floats, but he’s always had it. Not bad though. I looked up on the web and they said it can be a ulcer. I just want some more help on this. I love my fish. And i don’t want to harm them or put them through any pain or stress. Thanks so much.

I just recently got four “fancy guppies” and they all hang around in the bubbles near the filter. Why is that

Like I said, the fish either hang around the bubbles or hang around in a group close to the top of the tank. Also, they keep on running into the side of the tank. Please help me!!!

As long as they are moving well and you have provided a good environment, I wouldn’t worry.

I have one female G who is “adventurous” and loves to try to swim upstream to the filter outlet. She seems to be having a blast..

Possible Fin Rot On Male Fancy Guppy- Can’t Identify?

I looked up pictures on fin rot and it doesn’t really look like it but I don’t know what else it could be. This guppy is new so I know he wasn’t damaged by the guppies I already have. His tail and pectoral fins are the most affected by this damage. It looks like he was nipped while in the tank’s at the store, chunks are missing from both tail and pectorals. There seems to be a bolder white outline on his pectoral fins but not his tail and I can’t tell if it is because they are healing or because he’s got an infection. His behavior seems a little erratic and he stays by himself unless the other guppies approach him but he is eating very well. He goes for those fish flakes as soon as it hits the water lol
If I can’t tell what it is then how am I to treat it? Should I just treat it like fin rot? My friend told me to use CopperSafe but it is used for ich or other parasites. Should I go with the CopperSafe instead? First time ever having a sick fish so don’t know how to treat it lol ;-;

Is There Anything Fancy To It? Would Appreciate Some Answers, Quick?

Hi. I’m currently cleaning my 5 gallon tank with a male Betta in it. I siphoned out the water, and enough has been removed. I want to replace the gravel. How can I? Is there anything special I should do? I was just thinking of scooping out the gravel with a cup, and putting in new gravel, with the fish still in there. Could the rocks crush the fish? Please tell me how to do this.

Wanting a fancy male guppy “explosion” in my 20 gallon tank?

Question by logan_ryan: Wanting a fancy male guppy “explosion” in my 20 gallon tank?
Ive been breeding guppies for a while now and wanting to know with the right filter, live plants, lots of water changes, and maybe an air pump. Could I successfully overstock this beautiful established 20 gallon tank with about 40 to 45 male guppies?

Any other ideas? I’ve heard of this being done

Thanks to all that helps…I think this would be amazing!
