My new rat is hell-bent on escaping her cage. I have a medium sized aquarium that i’m keeping her in, with a homemade hut for her in it that i made out of cardboard. she likes to leap up and grab the edge of the tank with her front paws and hang there until she falls down. And i know she’s trying to escape. she’s made it out 3 times already. so i put a sketchbook over the top and something heavy on top of that. so now i’m concerned because she keeps jumping up and trying to escape even though it’s covered. she will try literally every waking minute she has to escape.
i want to know if her escape artist antics mean she needs a bigger cage, or is it normal for rats to try so diligently to escape?
