So im moderatley new to the whole fishtank thing, my bf, now my ex bf. said that it was easy…well so far it was cool until the water started getting a little cloudy nd now theres this clear gunk around. before that i started getting alot of algea in my tank so i went and got algea eaters 2, i was going to get those big i thnk they call them pleco fish? my ex said they crap more than they clean, so i got the small ones the chinese ones i think nd turns out they arnt so great at eating algea, anyways so now i have this clear crap floating around my tank nd i cant get rid of it, i checked the filter to see if it was working nd good nd it is. i have had two fish dye. one shark nd lasst night my silver dollar died. i have no idea what to do i try to clean out the crap nd it gets worse. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

I bought a penn plax small aquarium filter yesterday it was working fine, today the water is slightly cloudy. I made sure to run it under water for a few minutes before I placed it in the tax. (It is a filter made of sponge and carbon.) Any ideas on what could be wrong?

i had a couple of community fish in my 55 gallon i just got a couple piranhas and have gotten rid of the old fish and cleaned the tank next day the tank was cloudy like really cloudy soon it just settled to the substrate but every time the piranhas go near the bottom all the stuff just circles in the tank for like an hour before settling to the bottom again. im wondering how the pet stores get and keep there tanks so clean??? and how i can get my tank like that???

I have just cleaned out my fish tank, but this time I took all the gravel out of it to clean them, this made my fish water VERY cloudy and i can’t even see through it, I haven’t put my fish back in there yet or my gravel because im hoping that my filter will clean the water, but at the moment its not. I can’t take all of my water out because of all the good bacteria. What should I do? Please Help

Your tank is way too small and the goldfish are poop machines. You really need to get at least a 20 gallon tank, which you will need to upgrade in the future. If you want your fish to live and you won’t take them back to the store you need to be doing many water changes. I recommend taking them back and getting a betta.

Well, in August I got a new 20g tank. I cycled it, and in September I started adding fish. I added no more than 2-3 per week. Now I have a total of 5 male Guppies, 6 Neon Tetras, and 4 Julii Cories.
Up until about a week ago, my water was always crystal clear. I kept the tank super clean and stayed on top of regular maintenance. Everyone would boast about how my tank is so clean compared to theirs. I must admit, I was very proud to be able to have such a clean tank. I put a lot of work into it so I would expect it to be clean and clear.
Anyways, I have started to get a lot of Brown Algae. It’s all over everything… the decor is covered with it! I tried to scratch off some of it- which was a bad idea. The tank water became cloudy. I figured within a day or so it would clear up. Now a week later it’s still pretty cloudy
I also noticed that in the good ol’ days I could stir up my sand without a problem and it would never cloudy the water. Now, the slightest movement of sand clouds the water.
The tank has been up and running since August, stocked fully with fish in September, and now since late September and early October, it’s CLOUDY.

2. HOW CAN I MAKE IT CLEAR?
3. HOW DO I GET RID OF BROWN ALGAE?
I don’t want to add a shoal of Otos. Is there anything else I can do?

because my baby turtles in their 20 gallon have trouble with the tank staying clean for at least a day

i have in my tank:
2 baby turtle
a soft sounded tetra filter
1 platy
1 betta (its female)
a dock
a light
and clean water (until the turtles get in the cleaned tank)
ppl have told me i should get a cuple of sucker fish to clean the slime but what about the cloudy water which soon turns to brown
plz help!
