Can I Keep A 4″ Channel Catfish In A 10 Gallon Aquarium Temporarily?

I will be making a pond either this fall or spring and stocking it with native fish. It will be about 18′ by 15′ by 7′ deep.I want to put a channel catfish in there to raise until its eating size. But i saw that walmart currently has channel catfish (I dont know why) for sale that are about 4-5 inches long. I have an empty 10 gallon so could i keep it in there for the winter? it will give it a quarantine period that it will definitely need because its from walmart. would it be ok for a like 6- 8 months?

Why Are My Catfish Are Dying?

we just cleaned our tank today, itz like 50gal, and we had 7 pictus catfish inside it.. well my dad cleaned the tank himself and i dont think he wuz too rough with the fish, but for some reason 5 of the catfish have died…we also have 2 smaller fish (idk the species) and 5 goldfish and they all did ok. our last 2 catfish are slowly dying and they are pretty expensive so iz there any way i can save them? theyre having problems swimming so theyre mainly just resting on their sides now…

No other fish survived in one tank with clarias (albino one) except my suckerfish. Pterygoplichthys (black one/suckerfish) is a genus of the armored catfish family Loricariidae. These fish are commonly known as sailfin armored catfish or sailfin plecs. The walking catfish, Clarias batrachus (albino one/catfish), is a species of freshwater airbreathing catfish found primarily in Southeast Asia Diet: Clarias eats almost everything that moves (also raw meat), and Pterygoplichthys eats everything that’s left from clarias feast :)

Swollen Eye On My Catfish?

I put a baby iridescent shark catfish in my 42g tank yesterday, and this morning i found it with a swollen, red eye. It also kinda looks sometimes like it were popped out. Any explanations?
PS: don’t give me tank size crap, I’m getting a huge aquarium in december, and i bought it now so it wouldn’t be so small when the big tank comes. It’s actually about 2 inches

What Should I Feed An Aquarium Catfish?

I have a 2 foot catfish that I caught and put in my 40 gallon aquarium, his name is Winston, and he seems quite happy other than the fact that I have yet to see him eat…. I have tried hot dogs (which is what we catch them with), dog food, cheese, even some cheap goldfish (but they all died). The hot dogs clogged up the filter pretty quick and the dog food just swelled up and floated to the top, so I took it out, but he is obviously eating something because he’s been in there for about a week and a half now. If you have any ideas or experience in something like this please help! Thanks.

Corydoras Catfish Help?

I have a single Bronze cory catfish, and after reading a book on aquarium fish i found out that cory’s are best in groups of 4-6 unfortunately the book didn’t say if this was true for the size of tank i have (30 gallons) or if it was only for larger tanks. Also when i went to my local petsmart they only had a panda and peppered cory’s i am not sure if these cory are compatible with my Bronze. The fish’s tank mates would be 4 mollie (3 females and a male) and 2 juvenile angels. The reason i picked corys over other bottom feeder choices was the energy they had in display tank, but since i have brought home my little guy that energy doesn’t seem to be there, the book seemed to indicate that it was the lack of socialization that was the cause.
Questions would be:
-Are the panda and peppered corys be compatible?(i figure they would be just wanna check)
-Is the author(s) of the book crazy and corys are fine in solitude, or should i add 3-5 more cory
-Will any problems arise with multiple cory and the fish that are already in there?

Question by Amber: How should I set up a ten-gallon aquarium for Otto Catfish?
I would like to setup a species tank for Otto Catfish in a ten-gallon aquarium. How many can I have in a ten-gallon tank? And how should it be decorated-I’d prefer to use plastic plants. Anything else? I’ve had Bettas and Goldfish before.

well. im considering tat your catfish are bottom feeders, so i would use pebbles at the bottom so that they can collect food in the pockets between them. then i would use a small filter. one made for 10 gallon tanks. a floresent tank light. and lots of logs to hide in because catfish like to hide. a heater would be nice. and a air pump. thanks.

What Kind Of Small Catfish Can I Put With African Dwarf Frogs?

What does a Cory Catfish look like & how big will it get? Could I see an image of the fish? Will it be aggressive in the same tank with my timid African dwarf frogs? I don’t want them to get sick or eaten. What are the best fish to put with my frogs besides a Betta. It’s a small tank so I prefer a small Catfish for a two gallon tank. Any suggestions? Your help will be appreciated very much.
