I’ve had numerous cold water fish, and they just keep dying. Apart from one who I’ve had from the beginning. But at the moment she has black parts on her fins and body, I have tried treating it twice but it is not going away. So far 3 fish have died in my tank, I regularly clean and do water changes, the water is oxygenated and I have just put new plants in. I use stress coat to remove the bad stuff in the water everytime and yet they still die. Can anyone please diagnose what is wrong with my current fish and why my fish keep dying? It is very very sad
thank you

hey people
okay so I have kept hamsters before, Syrian hamsters mostly.
I keep a lot of fish as pets successfully and have been doing so for years but i was thinking that I could transform my currently empty 10 gallon fish tank into a hamster home. Ive read that Black Bear Hamsters tend to be more cuddly and less temperamental than other types and i really like their coloration. Could someone tell me how exactly (details) to keep one happy and healthy? I really rather not have a sick pet if i could help it
thanks~
5 stars for the most detailed/helpful answer!

I just got 2 dwarf gouramis about 2 weeks ago….I have them in a 10 gallon tank. One is slightly larger than the other…the larger one sometimes chases the smaller one. When I got them, they were very colorful (blue & orange) The past few days I noticed that the smaller ones bottom fin started to turn black…he was still swimming around and eating. Today I noticed that his color isn’t as bright and he has tiny black dots all over his body. This is the first time I’ve had gouramis, I’m more experienced with livebearers (platies) and betta fish. I have never seen anything like this…can anyone give me any idea what is going on with him? The water was treated with water conditioner, aquarium salt and bottled bacteria. I feed them twice a day. Thank you =)

two days ago i bought two black knife ghost fish and after transferring em to the tank , few minutes later they died. i went back to the shop, and they tell me prolly the water chlorine level was too high.. ( i’m kinda new to keeping aquatic pets) so got the anti-chlorine and ‘cleaned’ the water. as iv bought two new black knife ghost fish. everything was well. it survived two days. just this afernnon, one of em died, and i saw in its mouth the small black gravels i use as the base. i then separated the last survivor in a container. ( i’d thought i tell the whole scenario, incase there might be something wrong im doing). but the problem im facing is, my black ghost fish wont eat!! whether its dried bloodworm, or the sinking pellets. its been for two days.. its swimming normally and all but its not ewating.. just wondering is the temp of the water? i heard they might loose appetite.
also could you tell what i need specifically to keep this fish.. its only bout 2 – 3 inches.. im guessing its still kinda young? please your quick respons is greatly appreciated.

A few days ago, one of my other fish started to quit swimming slowly. He began just floating around and maybe swimming a little. Quit eating, and looked like he could barely breathe. We bought a new tank because the old one was filthy. I have never had any fish before, and I just bought these a week ago. I have a black moor, an algae eater, and the one that died was black and white and yellow/orange. Well, ever since then, the black moor hasn’t been the best. He was all playful and sporty when we put him in the tank. He ate and swam. But, the next morning I noticed he had some white spots, they may have been scale color change, but for precaution I bought some medicine for ich and put colored pebbles in the new tank. Later when I got home, he had been looking sick, with white stuff all over him, not spots, just sorta spider-webbish looking. Today, I came home and tried cleaning the tank, the white stuff is gone, but his scales have turned silver and he can barely swim, eat, or breathe? he’s just sitting at the bottom. Please help! Please!

I Just upgraded to a 60 gallon aquarium, from a 45 gallon.
In my 45 i had 3 black skirt tetras and 3 red minor tetras along with some others.
I know however that 3 of each is not enough, and i didnt want to over stock my 45 gallon, so i didnt add anymore.
However with the 60 gallon i can add more fish, (i am going to do a 2 week quarantine, i have a 20 gallon quarantine tank for just that reason)
But i want to upgrade the number of black skirt tetras and red minor.
Currently the 3 of each dont usually school together, 60% of the time when i watch they are swimming together but the other 40% they are off doing their own thing.
What is a good size number of fish for them to school with? and if i added in thew new black skirt tetras would my current ones school with them? and same for the red minor?
Just for additional info incase it may inform your responses.
Currently in my 60 gallon i have
3 black skirt tetras
3 red minor tetras
4 Male Guppies (brood brothers)
6 Female Bettas (they did their fighting to establish hierarchy, and now school nicely together
)
1 Dwarf Gourami
and 2 Otto Catfish (I had 3 but one died, will add 2 more i think)
