Need some quick info on the red bellied pacu?

So i bought a random silver and orange fish before researching or knowing what it was, i know dumb and dangerous for the fish, i dunno i was excited because ive only had one oscar in a 150 gallon for a loong time. the pet store guy had a thick german accent so im not sure exactly what he said (i asked him a few times to repeat but still couldnt make it out), im thinking its a red bellied pacu
or piranha.

soo now a month later im sitting here realizing i need to know about this fish. and finally getting internet access here i am.

firstly i bought this fish and it was tiny, now its even bigger than my oscar! how do i tell the difference b/t piranha and pacu? how big do they get?
and the pet store guy (prolly taking me for what im worth) told me my 6 in. oscar and the pacu would get a long fine, which they have been since day one. But now that the silver guy is getting bigger, and my oscar getting for some reason slower, im worried the new fish is gonna punk my oscar, he hasnt yet but hes now ever so slightly bigger and kinda goes all crazy hitting tank walls and making my oscar swim away from him.

also there is a goldfish that somehow got away from both fish and is pretty big now, about 3.5 inches long. i like ‘im now, will he eventually be eaten or starved?

i dunno please help, i need to differentiate bt the 2 fish, i think its a pacu cause its not really aggressive, please give me some general caretaking info and specs.??
thanks!

Is a Jack Dempsey Cichlid with a Red Bellied Piranha a good tank pair?

I recently started a tank and have a baby red belly and a baby jack dempsey in a 10 gallon tank. They are each a little over 1″. So far they have been living together fine. The Jack Dempsey has been chasing the piranha. How long until they outgrow the tank and will they need to be separated?

I accidentally bought a red bellied pacu and need help!?

I was trying to buy a parrotfish and the lady athe pet store told me that I was buying a juvenile parrotfish. Now through talking with other petstores I’ve realized I have a pacu. What is the best way to care for these fish and can they survive in a 55 gallon tank?
I apprecieate what wveryone has said about taking the pacu back i have even considered it but I want to keep it and was hoping for advice on the care and would like to know what type of tank is appropriate for the fish and the proper way to care i mostly have goldfish and guppies and a catfsh and a pleco in the tank and am concerned about the survival of this fish oh by the way the tank of fish that i have have been established with the above fish for over a year the pacu have only been in the yank for about a month

Does anyone living in Las Vegas want to buy a red bellied pacu?

It is about 6 inches and it doesnt nip on any of my fishes fins. I have 3 bala sharks, a common pleco, a iridescent shark, a shovelnose catfish, a needle nose gar, a clown knife, and a blue gourmai.

How big do the red bellied Pacu get?

And, how much water do they need to be in per fish?
I have 2 of them and have had them for almost 6 months. They were less than 2 inches long and now they are both around 13 inches. So pretty, but HUGE!

what is the difference between a red pacu and a red bellied piranha?

i purchased 2 piranahs last week. the store owner said it was a red pacu while i think its a red belly piranha. is there a difference between the two or is it just 2 names which describe the same fish?

How many red bellied piranha can i keep in a 20 gallon tank?

I have a 20 gallon tank and don’t know if i can put a piranha in it or how many but i have had one in there befor but it got old and died. But keep in mind that fish only grow as big as they can.
