Cherry Barb Fat, Red Gills, And Pinecone Like Scaling… Please Help!?

Okay so about 2 days ago I noticed my cherry barb was a bit fat. I looked closely and made an assumption she must be pregnant (off of a little research off the internet). now 2 days later her gills are red and her scales look like they are not flat =( I feel very badly for her she must be in pain or something but I have no clue what I can do for her. I am strapped on money and please do not go down the road of “then you shouldnt have pets” unexpected things have been coming up and my children come first. I just need some advice on what my poor fish could have and anything I could do to help it. Thanks!
Just an FYI
None of my other fish are sick
My tank has been up and running for 4 months
I have 4 scissor tail fish (one did die when my household was at hospital for 4 days with my newborn =( )
I have 2 other barbs not including my sick one
All my fish school together and are very friendly.
I have a 10 gallon tank
my filter filters 100 gallons an hour.
I change the filter every 2 weeks. (not the biological one, I have never touched tht one)
I have no live plants yet.
I have no amonia
no nitrites
5 nitrates
and PH is 7.0
Just tested yesturday.

Which “Tiger Barb” combination is much better?

Question by jerich_king: Which “Tiger Barb” combination is much better?
2 male and 3 female tiger barb or 3 male and 2 female tiger barb? Which of these choices is the best combination for them to spawn?

Best answer:

Answer by Army Ninja
Try two males and 4 females. This ensures makes aggression levels go down because tiger barbs need to be in groups of at least six so they don’t single out on fish and pick on him or her. And also when spawning fish you want their to be one male to two or more female ratios.

My rosy barb is bullying my fantail goldfish. Help?

I Have a 13 gallon tank with 2 fantails and a black moor in it. I bought a rosy barb and when I got home and looked it up on the net I discovered they need company or they will bully other fish. Do I take hime back or how many more do can I add to keep him happy and not overstock my tank? I removed him from the tank tonight because I see him chasing the others and he is in a bowl until I decide what to do with him. Any suggestions?
