Removing A Cloudy Haze On The Outside Of An Acrylic Fish Tank?

I have a Marine Eclipse 12 gallon acrylic tank. Along the top outside of the tank is a 6″ x 4″ area that is hazy. I have tried tank wipes, water and a soft cloth and a dab of dish washing liquid on a wet towel to clear this area and nothing works. Both sides, the back and the rest of the front are crystal clear. It is making me crazy because it is the prime viewing area affected and it makes the water look murky and it’s not. As I said it is on the outside only. It is not hard water deposits. I can run my finger across it and leave a trail. It’s similar to when you go to the car wash and they use a towel to clean the inside of your windshield and the towel may have had some ArmorAll or wax residue on it.
Suggestions for removing it once and for all? Thanks!

How Can I Patch And Clean An Acrylic Fish Tank?

I am getting a small used acrylic fish tank (5 gallons). Its current owner says that it has a crack, but that the crack never leaked when she used to use it (she hasn’t used it recently). I feel that, to be safe, I should seal the crack somehow; but I want to make sure whatever sealant I use won’t hurt either my Betta fish (once I put him in) or the live plants I’m hoping to get. How should I go about patching the crack / sealing the tank?
Also, how should I clean the tank, gravel, and ornaments, before adding my Betta and live plants? Should I go for diluted bleach (I’m worried about not being able to fully rinse it out), vinegar, or just hot water (I’m worried about cracking the tank further if it’s too hot, or not getting it adequately disinfected if it’s not hot enough)?
Finally, are there any questions I should ask the tank’s previous owner when I go to pick it up tonight?
Thank you for your help!

How Do I Remove Silicone Sealant From My Acrylic Aquarium?

I made my own aquarium by melting acrylic pannels together with methylene chloride. Unfortunately, it leaked. I put on some aquarium silicone sealant, and it still leaked in one place. So now I’m trying to remove the silicone sealant so that I can try again- but I’m concerned that if I buy a “silicone remover” compound (in a tube or something) that it will compromise the joints. I don’t want this thing to fall apart when I try to scrape off the silicone. Any ideas on how to do it short of manually scraping it (it’s a long, arduous process, well underway)?
If you tell me to re-apply the silicone without cleaning off the old, you won’t get the best answer. I need to know how to remove silicone sealant from acrylic (specifically polymethylmethacrylate) without damaging the acrylic.
Thanks!
