Something Wrong With My Fish?

My sons fish is acting very weird. It’s laying on the bottom of the tank barely moving, sometimes even leaning on it’s side. Other times it’s more angled looking up from the bottom but it hasn’t come up to eat or anything. Water is normal, temp is about 76* f . There is a swordfish and a guppy(male for sure) in the tank also. My son is 7 and worried the fish might be sick but the lady at the petstore had no idea. Fish has been doing this for 24 hours. Thanks!

unfortunately it looks like your fish is slowly dying. I don’t think there is much you can do at this point. What size tank ? Stocking ? Have you done a water change lately ?
i had EXACTLY the same problem, and my fish died the next day, im so sorry darling, but thats a sign of death.
Do a partial water change and see if that perks him up.
What is the species of the fish that is acting weird? What size tank is it? Is it filtered/heated? How long has it been set up? What is the routine maintenance that’s done on the tank?
Swordtails are very large fish for example, and really need at least 25-30 gallons.
My goldfish did the same thing….the next day he was dead. Did you check ammonia levels? You only have one guppy? Was the temp right in the water and did it change drastically? People at pet stores usually have no idea. Next time, if you’re going to get another fish, go to a local fish store. A lot of the times they know a lot. You NEED to get the swordfish a bigger tank. About 40-50 gallons. They need a lot of room. You’re supposed to have 6-8 guppies together because thhey are scooling fish.
