Should I use PurpleUp (Purple Up) in my saltwater fish tank?

What are the pros and cons of PurpleUp? Is it safe for a reef aquarium? Is it worth it and does it work? Thanks!

I haven’t actually used purple up.
Many people recommend it but i can’t find it in my LFS
But by my knowledge it increases the growth of coralline algae. So yes its reef safe.
I would not use purple up it’s a waste of money.
It does cause you to get coraline algae but not much faster than you normally would have.
there is also much better products out there that speeds up the coraline algae and adds beneficial elements to your reef as well.
If I were you I would get coral-vital or reef vital-dna they are much better or even essential elements from kent is okay. or better yet start dosing your tank with iodine that’s what is in all these supplements that make coraline algae faster anyway.
I have used it and currently it is the only supplement i use. I used seachem and kent for a number of months and after awhile it does get expensive to buy all of the supplements seperatly.
So i decided to try purple up, and my corals have never looked so good, purple coral line algae exploded in my aquariums. HOWEVER you will need to dose everyday and I have had a red slime algae problem after using it, but i cant say that it is 100% because of the purple up. But other than that my aquariums have been flurishing well on purple up.
It is an all in one, which can be debated about, but the results speak for themselves. The only other thing i add are trace elements once a week.
Here is a video of my BC 29 about a week ago, notice the purple coral line algae, open corals etc… So much more of an improvement. Note that this tank was completely empty for a week about 3 months ago due to a move so the tank was basically restarted and now the coral line algae is all over.

I’ve used Purple Up. It’s one of the few reef additives that really does its job. I get it from Saltwater Critters (linked below).
Good luck,
