Should i turn off my aquarium air pump at night??

I dont know if i should turn off my pump at night. I have a 46 gallon bowfront. I wanted to know if it will help the fish go to sleep? I have 2 convicts, male and female, and they r in love cuz they cuddle up at night and now we have babies. What would be best?

Of course not and it doesn’t make a difference to the fishes’ sleep if it is off or on whatever you don’t turn that thing off

As long as you have water movement, good circulation, you dont even need a air pump. Fish do not breath air their gills remove it from the water thus the water needs to be clean and moving.
But dont wory about the noise keeping your fish awake, they doze all the time not just at night.
Oh yea convicts bread like crazy! Good luck with the fry.

No. It helps keep the water going and it is better to keep it on. So it is best that you keep it on.

PLEASE DO NOT SHUT IT OFF!!!! if you shut it off at night they may need to go up and get an air bubble. If no bubbles no fish. They would all die. EVEN THE BABIES!

  11. NikoTaff says:

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! That could sufficate your fish.

I agree with almost every other poster. How would you like it if you had no fresh air pumped into your 5 square foot home?
