Sesame Street – seahorse

One of my favorite scores from the 70′s nature films. As for seahorses, I don’t know if I could trust a person that didn’t like them.

I think if I remember right, this is probably the first exposure I had to a seahorse when I was a kiddie. :)

There’s something very weird about seahorses I learned when I was working one day in Disney World. They’re the only animals in the world in which the mothers are actually the FATHERS, because they.give birth to the babies.

I thought it was a seahorse because how it curls up like a “C”.

To this day, I still prefer live instruments, and I’m sure it’s because of tranquil segments like this :) Thanks for finding this for us!

I always loved the music to this one. didn’t they do a snake film with the same music in the background? does anybody have it?

  8. celticepona says:

Joe Raposo- he was the in house sesame street composer.

From what I’ve read about them, seahorses bred in captivity fare better in aquariums than the ones taken straight from the wild, which tend to die from stress. Seahorses also happen to be very high-maintenance creatures, which among other things require specific water conditions. If you feel you’re up to the challenge sarahthediva, make sure you do your homework on seahorses first, so they can thrive happily.

I heard they don’t live as long in captivity as they normally would :-( …something to consider

The music, so delicate, like a seahorse.

Pretty much all of the groovy music you recall from the Old School version of the show was written by the late, great, Joe Raposo. Try typing in his name on YouTube and you’ll be amazed at the memories that flood back :-)

Who comes with these incredible scores for these animal shots? I love this one, along with the one for the giraffes.

I loved this one so much as a kid. The seahorses are so cute and the music is so calming. I wanted a seahorse as a pet after I saw this when I was little.

Love these animal clips keep them comming!!

If you pause this at 0:26 and again at 1:41, you can see examples of natural selection. The seahorse becomes almost invisible, camouflaging itself with the coral. Thus they escape predators by blending in with their environment.

    no problem DiAnno :)

  23. tubricant says:

This is definitely Joe Raposo’s musical prowess, once again.

I miss these quiet little films, music and pictures go together to soothe the mind.

This same music was used for a “Snake” clip. Was it Raposo who wrote this?
