Q&A: aquarium salt for land hermit crabs?

i have fresh water aquarium salt and im wondering if i can use it for my hermit crabs salt water dish. its called “doc wellfish’s aquarium salt for freshwater fish”

No believe it or not it is not the same. You need FULL strength SALTWATER FISH salt. I use Instant Ocean. The kind you are talking about and the normal saltwater aquarium salt are two different things. the crabs will need a full strenght solution to get the amount of salt that they need.

    No. This could potentially kill your hermit crab if it got into your crab’s body. Instead, go to a pet store and pick up some water made just for hermit crabs. This will be safer since it’s made just for hermit crabs. Or, like I’ve used in the past, use distilled water. It’s safe for hermit crabs to drink.
